Re: Should I get this for $17.99?
Its a graphical mixed bag to me. Day games in outdoor stadiums can look absolutely stunning, followed by some really rough, washed out looking textures and such when you end up under the artificial lighting of a closed roof like Chase Field.
I think the pitcher/batter system in this game is worth the $17.99 on its own. The pitching mechanic is that addictive.
Plug in MK's Slider Set and it plays a very good game of baseball. Think of his NBA 2k11 sets and you'll have an excellent idea of what to expect.
I spent the spring and a solid chunk of the summer playing through 2 seasons of MyPlayer (Starting Pitcher) and a ton of Franchise mode games. I won't claim either mode to be perfect, but they are a lot of fun with a good set of sliders in place.
I certainly feel that I got my $60 out of the game this year, and overall I think it turned out to be an above average title that too many people slept on (unfortunately with the asterisk of "once it was patched" added) . -

I'm more or less in the same position lol. I just bought it from eBay for 10 pounds. I have only ever played the show but traded this years version in after it a got a bit sterile. Don't get me wrong I still played it to death and I wil buy next years version.
I have been missing my baseball fix however and after buying a shiny new xbox for the 1st time I thought I might aswell give this a go. I know it gets pounded by everyone generally but i like the look of the pitching and presentation. Can't go wrong for 10 quid!Comment

I have a true love/hate relationship with this game. I bought it, sold it like 3 times and now I'm keeping it for good as my cousin just gave it to me. I hate the glitches, but love the commentary, stats, and the pitching. Like someone said, the pitching mechanic alone is worth it. Even the gameplay is a bit underrated. The graphics may look a bit goofy, but it has some quality stuff.Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!Comment

Great choice DJ. Just don't get put off at first. It took me like 10 games to realize its not that bad (been spoiled by the show). Franchise is the greatest regarding stats. I love seeing:
- Has 3 RBI's this past week
- Is hitting .422 during 25 game hitting streak
- Hitting .200 over last month

Re: Should I get this for $17.99?
Just turn the injuries completely off in franchise mode DJ. Even with the slider at 1/100 there are too many injuries, many of which require the DL and that has a bug where a player won't get healthy unless you transfer him to the minors. They don't have player options in franchise mode either which needs to be added for 2K12.
The game was a lot of fun for me initially but the bugs, glitches and issues get annoying over time. I really dislike the fatigue model as DHs still get tired, pinch hitters and runners that only play for an inning should still get rested but they get tired hurting NL play. As a manager you should want to use your bench but sending up your resting starter to pinch hit in the bottom of the 9th causes him to get tired even more and miss out on a ton of energy boost the next day. Stupid. There are no throwing errors for the user in the game and very little errors period. Sliders can't fix this.
For $18 it's a good deal and there is definitely a good fun factor about this game. I do think the hitting system has drifted too far towards MVP where you have to take every outside pitch to the opposite field and opposite field HRs are the vast majority in this game rather than the vast minority in real life. That probably ended up my biggest annoyance this year and led to me trading it in.Comment

Re: Should I get this for $17.99?
I only have a 360, so I have NEVER played The Show and have nothing to compare it to. I like this game...don't love it, but rather enjoy it. I am going to eventually work on my 1995 season rosters (I have them all named, just need to edit ratings and player styles), so I plan on hanging onto this game. I'm curious as to what next year's game holds in store, but for the price you mentioned, Dan, yeah it's worth the money.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

@ $17.99 its a deal. I am sticking with this instead of upgrading to MLB 2k12 next year.Gaming hard since 1988

I enjoyed it. It defintely doesn't look as good as the Show but you can say that about every other game in the world. The general thoughts are that it is solid but a slight step down overall. For $18 though I think you'll be pleased.Gamertag and PSN Mrclutch1013

Re: Should I get this for $17.99?
I'd look to spend my money elsewhere. I know 17.99 is a cheap price, but if you're already playing the best baseball game out there (The Show) why spend the money on another baseball game just because it's on your 360 instead of PS3? In my opinion, i'd save the money and get another great game, or put the money towards MLB 12Comment
