The cover is okay. It would've been better if the background was blue or gray. I think the problem is that Verlander is closer/bigger compared to Jordan, Magic & Bird on the NBA 2K12 covers. Can't wait for this game! Hopefully 2K does the same thing they did with NBA 2K12 in MLB 2K12 as far as graphics go. -
Re: MLB 2K12 Cover Art Revealed
I don't hate the covers themselves anyway, but I just question whether they think this is an appropriate selling tactic, especially for a simulation baseball game. If this was for The Bigs 3, then this isn't a problem (but again, using Tiger blue in the background would've looked pretty good I think).
One thing I do like about the MLB 2K12 title, though, is that the player isn't covering up the game's title at all. I don't know why some sports games have recently been allowing that strange overlap (see Bird cover), especially from the title of the game.Last edited by Blzer; 12-24-2011, 06:25 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB 2K12 Cover Art Revealed
They can just put a baseball on the cover with no background for all I care, as long as the game is good it doesn't matter. They could put boy George on the cover, if the game is good and better than last years by a huge margin, then I will buy it...that's a big IF though. Not gonna hold my breathe with this dev team."Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"

Besides, I might be in the minority, but the cover isn't bad at all. I like it...would have looked better with napoli or Cruz on the cover. Lol but the verlander cover is bad to the bone...its aggresive IMO"Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"

Re: MLB 2K12 Cover Art Revealed
Like I said, I like the cover, but it would have looked better with blue or gray in the background. However, the cover doesn't really matter, as does the actual game content. It does seem like everyone just loves to hate on the 2K Sports baseball franchise. The cover is really irrelevant when it comes to the actual game. Because that's what matters, right?Comment

Re: MLB 2K12 Cover Art Revealed
i see 2k does the same art design across the sports games.
last year with the 3 pics, this year with the hard red.
One thing that will get me to buy 2k this year [i bought it last year] is if the franchise mode is improved and glitches cleaned up.
Thats it and they got my green, i enjoyed it last year as my bball game of choice.Comment

Not really a fan of this either, More realistic JV with a Blue or Silver background would have been much better.Comment

And you wonder why 2K avoids releasing info early. they can't release a cover without SCEA drones chiming in on how bad the game will be.Comment

Nba 2k12 cover looks just like this and a lot of people call it a ''sim'' so I don't see how having a baseball cover look a lot like it means it's not a ''sim'' also please stop using that word there is no such thing as a ''sim'' just a game that almost is life like.Comment

You know how the gaming community works. Simulation became sim. Life like will become "LiLi"... and I won't stand for that!Comment

Re: MLB 2K12 Cover Art Revealed
The one thing that's sorely missing from this game is the customization options that it used to have. The fact that I can't hide the pitching cursor, check swing, or use zone hitting tend to baffle me just slightly, and frankly it will solve many of the game's small problems with the pitcher/batter confrontation. Otherwise, I'm playing MLB 2K10 as we speak, and I can just overlook so many things in the game because I still have a bunch of fun attempting simulation baseball as well as they can offer it.
I am not the kind of person who judges a game by its cover, so I'm not saying inside this box is an arcade game. As I said in my first post... if it's their marketing ploy to attract customers, it only makes sense for them to use this tactic (especially if it looks like their critically acclaimed NBA 2K12 game). Unfortunately, for those who like the cover to be reflective of the game on the inside, this doesn't match well. Plus, as people said, the red background doesn't match the blue that Verlander is wearing.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
