Yes this thread is getting out of hand.

All Im saying is that I personally loved 2K7's graphics. Player models werent very but overall it was a beautiful game. A tad overdone maybe but really sharp and I thought the lighting was great. My opinion.

I have to disagree with the above posts and 2K11 being superior graphically.
Doesnt mean im right or wrong, doesnt mean youre right or wrong either,just my personal opinion. For ME, the perfect game would be an ironed out version of 2K11 gameplay with 2K7 graphics, again that would be MY perfect game.

And I play on a ps3, never been into PC gaming.

Getting out of hand as in getting off topic with the MVP series and "other" BB games.
So relax! Im not saying youre wrong to think 2K11 is better im just saying thats your opinion and I dont agree, and thats fine!

I think 2K7 is a better looking and playing game than 2K9 - 2K11.

Better looking I understand is up for debate. But better playing?! The 2K series up until VC took over was considered a complete disaster, it was the absolute laughing stock of of the "Big 4" sports video games. One version -- was it 2K6 or 2K7? -- got a review rating of 1 out of 10 here at OS. Yes, 1!

The only decent thing about the series in those years was the inclusion of what I feel was the best-ever zone hitting system in any baseball game, along with and their step-influence feature. But leave it up to 2K, who seem to love to shoot themselves in the foot year in and year out, to remove both from their current game.

Even a person opposing my statement that 2K7 had better gameplay ( you ) said it had the best zone hitting system / step-influence batting. You said only, but if you thought about it longer, you'd probably be able to list more things you liked about the game.

I bought 2K7 a year or so ago and played it just to reminisce and refresh my memory of what it was like. I was amazed at how close it was to being an excellent MLB video game.

MLB 2K11 lacks difficulty. Adjusting the sliders just stacks the odds against the player. It doesn't actually make the game require more skill. Batting is pressing a button. That's it and it got boring to me quickly.

I would love to give the zone hitting from back then another go. I spent a lot of time in batting practice marveling at the ball physics and hit variety. No other baseball game has ever come that close to recreating the difficulty and feel of hitting a baseball. And I agree with you that 2K11 in comparison is too easy, too simplistic.

The other thing I remember though is I couldn't stand playing actual games. The animations were just so atrocious, and the gameplay so buggy and glitchy. And while the 3D grass looked great and all, other things like the baggy unis flapping in the wind or the fans in the stands spaced 8 feet apart were beyond comical. It all just made for such an uneven and, for me, unpleasant gaming experience.

2K11, even though it's far from a great game, is the first 2K baseball game in several years I was able to stomach for more than a couple of days. It's still a very uneven game, but not so much that's it's annoying and frustrating to play, in the way previous versions were. That's been my experience anyway.

2K7 looked good in screenshots and on SDTVs, but as others have rightly said, it doesn't look very good in motion by today's standards on an HDTV. The framerate is choppy at best.

Yeah, it looked great for it's time, but I popped it in not long ago and couldn't even get through a game because of the framerate, and the gameplay is nowhere near as good as 2K11, IMO.

2k7 doesn't look nearly as good as 2k11, what are you talking about? the models are awful in comparison and the stadiums, while nice, still aren't nearly as good.

Honestly I was playing it the other night, and I agree that stadiums and so forth look better in 2k11 and 2k12 for that matter...

But the player models were indeed better in 2k7 and so were the Jerseys...tonight I am going to make some nice footage of 2k7 in a better light and see if people still think that way...coming soon!

I bought MLB 2k7 back in 2009 and I didn't think it was graphically impressive at all then. In 2007 it was definitely the best looking Baseball video game available. But it hasn't aged well at all. What it has going for it is vibrant colors. The colors looks beautiful, but when the game is running on my own HDTV right in front of me it just does not look good.
