MAKING FLYBALLS MORE DIFFICULT
As far as I know, the delayed yellow circle within the larger white circle is supposed to increase the difficulty of flyballs. But to me it seems like the AI moves your outfileder in the exact direction of where the yellow circle will appear, thus defeating the purpose of the entire thing. All you have to do is hold the analog stick in the same direction and the outfielder goes right to the yellow circle.

I have a hard enough time fielding in the outfield! I can't tell you how many times I've bobbled the ball in the outfield.OS Vets Co-Commissioner:

Re: MAKING FLYBALLS MORE DIFFICULT
There's a PC mod that lightens the fielding circle or removes it completely, your choice. Removing it actually works well as the AI takes over anyway if your player is in the general vinicity... which is a ridiculous bit of programming, I agree.

Okay you can do mods on the PC, we get it. Some of us prefer playing on a console, which is obviously what he wants help with.OS Vets Co-Commissioner:

Good job editing your posts too by the way, which is why I love getting emails with the original version intact. And I really love the "short-bus" comment, because that is a really mature way to describe something.

Manny Ramirez went through an entire baseball career being able to shag fly balls well enough to be a major league left fielder.Comment

Re: MAKING FLYBALLS MORE DIFFICULT
Routine fly balls should be routine for pretty much every MLB player. But you do see the bad outfielders taking bad angles, wrong jumps, etc on non routine balls and they do misplay them. The hard line drive right at a CF is an example of a tough ball to read.
Personally I played with the 2K9 fielding camera and zoomed it out a long way and I found myself botching a bunch of fly balls including the routine ones which would frustrate me at times. The routine ones should focus in on the final landing spot sooner for all players unless it's really windy imo. Right now the game always waits until a couple seconds before it lands to reveal itself.
This is one area that's tough to get right and it's also an area where I would love a baseball game to let me see the entire flight of a fly ball and try to track it down myself. Not sure how to do that though (ball gets bigger/smaller, shadow). I think 2K's system is currently the best system out there right now even if I have a few issues with it.Comment

Re: MAKING FLYBALLS MORE DIFFICULT
Manny was obviously a special case, being one of the laziest outfielders, yet an incredible hitter. I honestly think he could've been a much better fielder than he wanted to be, especially later in his career. I have been playing with whatever the default camera is, and I'm not too fond of it, because I feel like I never get a great read on a well hit ball.OS Vets Co-Commissioner:

It certainly seemed like he really didn't care. Left field in Fenway was a perfect place for his skills.Comment
