What are the chances of this being at least an option in MLB 2k12?

Confirmation from 2K that the New Playoff Format if implemented this year is in the game. The Best part is it won't need to PATCHED-IN as it's been coded into the game already...

A 10-team playoff, in which two wild-card qualifiers from each league play each other in a single-elimination game before the leagues' division series, will be an option when players start a new Franchise mode in MLB 2K12. Though Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal first reported that MLB will adopt the 10-team format for this season—it will take effect in 2013 at the latest—the change has not been officially announced. So, whatever postseason bracket the leagues adopt for 2012, 2K Sports' game will support it in the code on the disc, without need for a post-release patch.

I'd be curious to know how they handled the teams playing each other without knowing the specifics... considering the MLB had nothing set in stone.

I wonder if the Astros will go to the AL, or you can make them. I wonder if this year will have rain delays, or something as basic and as fundamental as ejections. I wonder if they'll have Mike Stanton's new/old name of Giancarlo Stanton. I wonder if check swings will still be totally broken. I wo, wo, wo, wo, wonder.

Check swings and pitcher ejections are already confirmed as fixed.

As for Rain Delays no word yet. (not holding my breath)

Im curious how they approached this as well.

We all know they intend to have 4 wild-card teams instead of 2.

But the un-determined thing at this point (from what I understand) is if the wild-card playoff games will either be a "one game match" or a "3 game short series" to determine which 2 of the 4 teams makes it to the actuall playoff bracket.

...Sooooo... which version of the new wild-cardformat did 2K put in? The 1 game sudden death version? Or the 3 game short series?

I for one would rather see MLB and 2K go with the 3 game short series. I mean... to play a 162 game season and then have it come down to a 1 game sudden death match?? I hope its a 3 game short series.

I think all indications now are siding with the one game WC.

However, what do you do in the event of a three way tie? Who is home if there is a tie for the 2 spots?

Little questions like these are what can cause bugs if not accounted for correctly.

Because the Wild Card Knockout is being squeezed in this year with schedules already set the Division Series will be 2-3. Apparently next year when the wild card knock out round can better be build into the travel schedule the Division Series will go back to 2-2-1.

So if 2K adds this into that game - likely the last we will ever get - which LDS schedule will we get?
