    Player Ratings

I thought it might be a cool idea to start a thread for predicting which players from each position would get the highest ratings, and what they would be. For my list, I'll be doing 5 per position. Remember, these are just predictions.

Since we already know the ratings for the Cardinals and Rangers (demo, sans Yu Darvish) let's try to not include anyone from those teams on here.

    First Base:

    -Albert Pujols- 99 overall
    -Adrian Gonzalez-97 overall
    -Joey Votto- 96 overall
    -Prince Fielder- 94 overall
    -Mark Teixeira- 91 overall

    Second Base:
    -Dustin Pedroia- 95 overall
    -Robinson Cano- 94 overall
    -Ben Zobrist- 93 overall
    -Dan Uggla- 93 overall
    -Brandon Phillips- 92 overall

    Third Base:
    -Miguel Cabrera-97 overall
    -Jose Bautista- 95 overall
    -Evan Longoria- 94 overall
    -Hanley Ramirez- 92 overall
    -Aramis Ramirez- 89 overall

    Outfield (15 players):
    -Matt Kemp- 99 overall
    -Ryan Braun- 97 overall
    -Jacoby Ellsbury- 96 overall
    -Carlos Gonzalez- 96 overall
    -Justin Upton- 94 overall
    -Mike Stanton- 93 overall
    -Curtis Granderson- 93 overall
    -Jay Bruce- 93 overall
    -Hunter Pence- 92 overall
    -Andrew McCutchen- 92 overall
    -Michael Morse- 91 overall
    -Nick Markakis- 90 overall
    -Josh Hamilton- 90 overall
    -Desmond Jennings- 90 overall
    -Alex Gordon- 90 overall
    -Drew Stubbs- 89 overall

    Shortstop:
    -Troy Tulowitzki- 95 overall
    -Jose Reyes- 94 overall
    -Starlin Castro- 91 overall
    -Jimmy Rollins- 90 overall
    -Asdrubal Cabrera- 88 overall

    Catcher:
    -Mike Napoli- 95 overall
    -Brian McCann- 93 overall
    -Carlos Santana- 92 overall
    -Buster Posey- 90 overall
    -Miguel Montero- 89 overall

    Starting Pitchers:

    -Justin Verlander- 99 overall
    -Roy Halladay- 99 overall
    -Clayton Kershaw- 97 overall
    -Tim Lincecum- 96 overall
    -Cliff lee- 94 overall

    Closers:

    -Craig Kimbrel- 95 overall
    -John Axford- 94 overall
    -Mariano Rivera- 92 overall
    -Brian Wilson- 91 overall
    -Jonathan Papelbon- 90 overall

    Non-Closing Relievers:

    -Johnny Venters- 92 overall
    -Sean Marshall- 91 overall
    -Tyler Clippard- 90 overall
    -David Robertson- 87 overall
    -Jonathan Broxton- 86 overall

    Re: Player Ratings

Votto will, or at least should be rated the second highest 1st bagger. I mean, hes the 2nd, arguably 1st best first baseman right now.

And even after the silver slugger, another gold glove, and hitting 300. for the first time, I still dont think BP gets much love and Id say they make him a 89-90.

I'm interested in seeing what Cozart gets rated, and if they lower Latos' overall.

It'll probably still be at 84, and when (if) he starts off well, it'll raise.

I had already grown tired of 2K11 before Cozart even got called up, so that was his overall last year? What was Latos overall after the last roster update, do you know?

84 was him after the last update. He started the year at 88 I believe.

I think they underrated Latos a bit, though.

The last 2-3 years Latos' groundball to flyball ratio has been swinging towards more grounders, so even though hes going into GABP, I still think that should be considered. I have a feeling though that they'll lower Latos' just so the Reds pitching isn't too powerful, since the rotations overall rating just wouldn't seem right if we had an above average rotation, when we really have an average or just below at best.

Other than Reds, I'm thinking Molina is going to get a huge boost with his incredible offensive numbers last year. Maybe an 88-89, coupled with his still stellar D (even though he ranked middle of the pack in put outs runs saved last year).

I would've listed him, but I was doing no cards/rangers players.

And look at Latos' peripherals, from home and away they're practically identical. The guys on MLB.com's 'the shredder' exemplify that perfectly, as well:

He should be, at the very least, an 88

I'm agreeing with you, I just don't think they are going to. Kind of like when sports game companies lower or raise new acquisitions to keep the team rating 'what they think it should be'. For a random example, How Justin Smith got a raise for no reason when the he went from the Bengals to the Niners (Madden). He hadn't deserved the boost...yet, but he got one so the 49ers would have a better overall. Conversely, I think they wont raise, and maybe even lower Latos' because of this. They wont see what the Shredder sees, they''ll see him going into GABP and lower it (I'm guessing). I mean, the guys doing the ratings for 2K are no Brian Kennys after all.

(I didn't play the demo, no demo for PC I don't think, so I didn't know that we knew the Card/Ranger ratings.)

                        Yeah, true.

When I made the 2k11 roster changes to reflect this offseason's work, the reds came out rated 98. Im sure they wont allow that to happen in 2k12.
