    CPU AI

Does anyone else see the opposing team pull starters/relief pitchers when they are supposed to?

I'm seeing way too many pitchers bat for themselves in situations when they should be pinch hit for. Some are also being left in too long.

I really never noticed this in the demo (maybe because it was a 3 inning game?)

It's a major downer for me right now.

This particular programming issue goes back to 2K5. Surprised you're just seeing it now.

I've seen it in previous versions, but from the demo.. I had hoped that was fixed.

A lot of people here expressed the same hope for the game this year, including me. I actually haven't bought 2K12 yet, and this is one of the reasons. Can't really call it much of a baseball game when the P hits in the ninth ining with his team a run down. About as pointless as a video football game where the CPU runs draw plays from its own 20 when down by 7 with 45 seconds to play.

I'm still playing 2K11 and enjoying it. That's probably going to be it for my baseball fix this year.

That is my main beef. The cpu starting pitcher is frequently staying in until the 8th inning even if he has given up alot of runs or if they are down by a few runs

I control all teams in season mode. When it makes situational sense, I switch controllers and make the appropriate lineup/pitching moves for the CPU. That's my fix.

Is it possible in season play to make some of the cpu decisions by swapping controller over to cpu, make changes then back to user? For instance pinch hitting for the pitcher.

This killed baseball games for me since 2009. From 2004 - 2009, I was day one baseball purchase every year.

I've skipped out the last three, and am hoping EA makes a game next year. I still follow baseball forums, though.

This problem specifically is why I am baffled when there are posters who rave about the game and claim they've played full seasons, etc.

Thunder-Are you suggesting that no one actually plays a full season of 2k baseball? And anyone who says so is lying?

yes this is what I do. sure its annoying but at least there's a workaround, its not that bad or a game killer. hope the patch in may helps but I doubt it. I dont care fir videogames much anymore but I'm loving 2k12 with mks sliders and roster

The programming is flawed when it comes to pitching. It seems its all based on pitch count.

I suggest we try using the Pitcher Stamina Slider as a test to see if raised high enough, the CPU starts pulling pitchers until the patch hits.

Right now I have mine @ 55 & still seeing the issue

                        Re: CPU AI

I don't want to have to take control of a team and do simple in game management. Did I not see the AI make realistic moves in the demo?

I just wanted to confirm this indeed happens in almost every game and if so, I'm not going to waste my time with this game.

I bought both baseball games this year and for me, there is a lot I really like about MLB 2k12 - but I can't win games because the CPU AI has a rally going and decides to let their pitcher bat in a situation that no college coach would even let happen. That kills the enjoyment for me.

Maybe they will patch it... but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh.. and bigfnjoe.. if you find a secret formula to fix it, please let us know!

Yeah, this has become my No. 1 complaint with the game right now. Last night, I was playing a game against Houston (I was the Nationals). I'm down 2-1 in the 9th and Myers was around 110 pitches for the Astros.

He came up to bat, struck out and I got out of the inning without allowing a run. I come to bat in the bottom of the 9th and the CPU had made a pitching change ... why have Myers bat if you're going to take him out in the bottom of the inning? That move made zero sense and really bothered me.

It's 2K's running flaw that they continue to overlook... But I had something unique happen to me today: I was the Angels at home vs. The Twins. I chased Blackburn in the first inning. He gave up 6 runs in 2/3 of an inning, leaving with the bases still loaded. So that was kinda cool to see...

I have tried that. The problem with that is that it's a global slider and affects your own stamina as well. Kershaw running on fumes in the 4th inning with about 50 pitches thrown? Not too realistic. I hope they can patch it. I think I'll just have to switch to the cpu and change their pitchers.
