Can anyone explain the finer points of succesfully running the bags. I am costing my team much needed runs with carless errors. I can advance the lead runner, but I am having trouble getting the other runners to advance. Help!!
Study the baserunning controls obviously. When you have them down, setup up a test game and intentionally walk 1-2 players, then switch controllers and practice baserunning/stealing. I think you can even save the game at that spot so you can just reload the save and keep practicing.
I still make a lot of baserunning mistakes, but I've gotten better. I find that the AI of the lead runner is usually pretty good on easy decisions (like advancing from 3rd to home on a sac fly) so I won't usually control them if I have someone else on base. So, I'll use the A button to select the runner prior to the pitch being thrown and then just use the analog stick to choose the base I want to send him to.
I stol get caught in rundowns from time to time but I've gotten better

You find that easier than using the triggers/buttons? I find locating the stick with my thumb to be one extra thing I struggle to coordinate, lol. I use the triggers/buttons, they just seem to be in a much more intuitive position on the controller when I'm in the midst of fumbling around trying to move runners plus locate controller buttons and what not.

I always get LT/LB confused and I'll advance all runners when that's not my intent. The analog stick is more intuitive to me because I just have to point in the direction of the base I want the runner to go in

Also, if I have a runner on first and I know I want him to try to score, I can press down on the analog and he'll go for home and I don't have to do anything else
