Things that this game does better than the other (GRAPHICS and more)

Out there the media is bashing the game’s graphics, well in my opinion the game looks pretty good, more less the same than NBA2K (which everyone says it looks amazing) and it does several things (graphical) better than the other game, besides that this game is a lot of fun, in my opinion it beat the other game on gameplay, sound, atmosphere and better game overall, but anyway back to the topic, here is my list of things that this game does better than the other on the graphics department:
    - Player Models
    - Stadiums
    - Field dimension
    - Skies & clouds
    - Time progression
    - Animations (3rd baseman and shortstop catch & throw looks amazing)
    - The ball also LOOKS like a ball (not like a white dot like the other game)
    - Camera cuts and camera settings in general
    - Menus and overlays
    - Catcher and pitcher animations
    - Specifics & correct mannerism for tons of players

If I’m forgetting something, please, feel free to add more, I’m having lot of fun with this game, and I’m glad that I skipped the other game after watching videos and try out in Best Buy and notice that would be the same stale and boring game that have been for years, and I really don’t get all the criticism about this game, when from a technical point of view is ahead of the other game, when you see all the good things about the graphics, the greatness of the gameplay, the amazing and BEST commentary EVER, the atmosphere, and the innovation for fielding, throwing and pitching, the MLB Today mode, the new Playoff format included, and more, I don’t get it, the other game is the PS2 version with a gloss coating and that’s it, always behind and always copying this game.

this is teetering on being a comparison thread waiting to happen.
Also its teetering on being impressions, but i'll throw some stuff in about the lighting.

A few years ago they did a blog on the lighting and someone on here who was a whiz with that stuff mentioned how they use a TRUE lighting model.
Anyways there is something they do and something they use, some tech, that makes this lighting in this game PHENOMENAL. The skies and cloud mostly.
The purples, the blues, the greys, the shadowing off the crowd, the dynamic-ness of it all.
It truly is breathtaking, then you see the player models, lol

I have always thought the lighting in MLB 2k was the best of all sports.
Minor league games are tear inducing. In a good way. lol

Couldn't agree more on the ss and 3b throwing animations. They are gorgeous and you see different types of throws depending on the situation. The footwork on the throws is also superb.

Once you really play the game more and more and let it breathe.. it really does show you all the work they did on it.

I'm glad you posted this as I said going into last year's game, 2K captures many of baseball's fundamentals extremely well. I often times find myself replaying gathers and throws, "like wow! that was gorgeous"

I love the post game highlights. They are incredible.

The clouds are incredible. I feel like when I play with a cloudy back ground I'm standing on top of a mountain looking at the sun bounce of clouds beneath me.

Yup his exactly right, if you just sit back and not skip all animation cut screens and just look around and take it all in the graphics can wow.

One super beef i have with the graphics is at the end of the inning sometimes the camera will end up glitching and you end up staring at peoples feet in the stands or something weird along those lines and as well as the frame rate glitching when you hit a foul ball (yes i know there are camera angels to fix it but should have been fixed before release)

                  agreed as well.
Letting the game play out naturally is key, just like baseball let its pace guide you.
tho there is a negative to this....those pitcher 'stare into the abyss' looks that go on for what seems like ten seconds. lol
                  oy.

I am glad when I finally jumped into my franchise I really got into it. Now with a month into it I can pace myself and really let it sink in and I'll have no problem getting through seasons.

                      There is an Impressions Thread.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
