Franchise Lineups broken?
I noticed an issue in franchise mode that isnt a deal breaker but hurts my fun factor in franchise. It has to do with the cpu lineups and how if you dont control the team then the cpu messes up all the lineups instead of keeping them projected. Is this just a gameplay core issue or can this be fix to wear the cpu will keep realistic lineups even if there are injuries?Tags: None -

can you give an example of a broken lineup jfrost?
-you have things like arod leading off?
-do guys end up being out of position as well?

Re: Franchise Lineups broken?
Ya like for instance the yankees have derek jeter batting ninth which would never happen. The twins have morneau and maur batting 7th and 8th which i understand they were hurt but with them healthy they should be a 3 and 4 hitters. Even with my team the Red Sox sometimes the cpu redo my lineup and they have pedroia playing SS. It seems like they do this alot in franchise mode. I understand that injuries play a part but i know there are some things that never change like one the yankees lineup will always be Jeter, Granderson, Tex, Arod, Cano and Swisher in that orderComment

Re: Franchise Lineups broken?
I saw the Reds switched Phillips and Stubbs around in the last game I played against them, Phillips had always been 1st and Stubbs 2nd, but Stubbs had been in a terrible slump, so in that case, I thought it was pretty neat to see the AI do something like that. Stubbs has a 94 speed rating, so it makes sense to me. Phillips was also hitting 0.348.Comment

Re: Franchise Lineups broken?
They can be a little quirky but there's a logic to it. For instance the cpu RARELY plays a person out of position. If your position is listed as 1B and you have a 99 rating at 3B the cpu will still never play you at 3rd even if you have another highly rated player at your position. Case in point: Victor Martinez is listed as a 1B (100 rating) but has a 70 (rating) for catcher. I raised it to a 99 to test and the CPU still won't play him out of position even though the only other catcher is a 70 overall.
The CPU also tends to hold fielding in high regard. Another case in point: Victor Martinez tends to ride the bench and the CPU has a fielder at DH and Cabrera at 1B. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense (Inge at 3B). Inge is a much better primary 3B (fielding) then cabrera. But the AI doesn't recognize victor and instead plays the position player with the better fielding rating regardless.
It can be screwy but whatever...a game's a game!Comment

Last year they had overdone it in the other direction. I remember for example, that the cpu put the Giants lineup as the following:
1B - Sandoval
3B - Huff
Don't know why, made simply no sense because the CPU played both at one time and normally you would play Huff at 1B and Sandoval at 3B.
Seems that they noticed this failure and overdid it in the other directionComment

Yeah, I noticed that, too.

Re: Franchise Lineups broken?
Yea, but that's not the best part. Auto-managing lineups is bugged, where even if you have it set to manual the cpu will still auto-manage your lineups. There's another thread on it here somewhere so search for it. It basically renders 30 team control useless because you still have to go through every couple days and redo the lineups!Comment

IMO, playing a franchise and expecting the CPU teams to use MLB-accurate lineups every game is completely unrealistic (and nuts!). And if someone wants that, they should expect to have to put a lot of extra time into it. Besides, MLB teams use dozens of different lineup combos throughout the year, so which particular lineup is "accurate" anyway?Comment
