Re: Does 2k use zone hitting?
No, it's all based on timing. You just get to decide if you want analog or one button. -
Re: Does 2k use zone hitting?
the answer to your question is unknown. The manual doesn't tell you and on the controller screen for the left stick it just says "influence hit" but it doesn't tell you what it does. I tried using the left stick where the ball is pitched but I can't tell if it is working. I play on all-star and everything i hit is a weak ground ball no matter if i use contact swing, power swing, contact plus left stick, or power plus left stick.Comment

Re: Does 2k use zone hitting?
No zone hitting. You can only use the left stick in an attempt to influence your hit direction.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Does 2k use zone hitting?
The answer has been known for at least three years, one of the 2K devs even answered it. No. Nadda. Zilch. Zip zip zippo.
In other words, there is no zone hitting. As others have stated on this thread and many times over on this board since 09 or so, the only hitting option in MLB 2K is timing-only. And that's whether you're using the swing stick or classic hitting, doesn't matter. The L stick is simply used to influence the hit type -- left, right, groundball and flyball.Comment

Re: Does 2k use zone hitting?
Very easy to test. Push down for several hitters and watch all the groundballs that occur; push up for the next bunch of hitters and observe the flyball fest that ensues. It works too well actually; completely unrealistic given known groundball hitters can all hit flyballs like there's no tomorrow. Inside Edge ratings my foot.Last edited by Yeats; 05-20-2012, 03:07 PM.Comment
