What is the point of making money in franchise mode?

So in my Red Sox franchise my payroll is currently $14 million dollars under my revenue. This means I will "profit" $14 million at years end.

But where does this money go?

Does it get saved in-case the following year I am over budget?

Does it sort of dissapear if I dont use it?

Pretty sure the money is supposed to be spent on the inside edge stuff at least that is what I spend my extra revenue on.

I feel like the money you bring in contributes to how big your budget is the next season. Like if you're winning and making money, you're payroll/budget should increase (much like it would in real life) for the next season. I can't confirm that as I'm only 60 or so games into my franchise, but that would be my guess.

Oh yeah... I buy those too, lol. Usually for division rivals and my league. (since Im an AL team I dont bother buying NL teams)

But that's not really my question...

What Im wondering is IF I DO end up with extra revenue at the end of the year... where does it go? Does it build up in a "bank" or something incase Im over budget in the following years?

Like lets say the $14 million I have goes into the "bank" at the end of the season. And then next year I sign a bunch of guys and my payroll exceeds my revenue by $5 million. Does that $14 million cover the $5 I'm over by and thus leaving $9 in the bank?
