Re: Infield fly rule
I've had it happen. Are you sure you were in an actual Infield Fly Rule situation?
The requirement is for runners to be on first and second, or bases loaded, with fewer than two outs in order for the call to be available. The call also is based on the ability of the infielder to field the ball with ordinary effort.
Every time I've been in the situation it's been called. -

Re: Infield fly rule
On the original topic, I may have been recalling The Show with the Infield Fly Rules I've seen. I play them both consistently so it's sometimes difficult to remember where I've seen something. If this IS the case, I apologize.Comment

Re: Infield fly rule
I have never seen it called either, in 100+ played games. But I bet it works.
I know it was there in previous versions of the game, as during an infield fly with runners on 1st and 2nd some text would pop up in white letters on the screen that read "infield fly rule."
But I dont ever see it anymore... So perhaps its still there its just that this announcement has been removed.
I suppose one could test this easily by letting an infield pop-up intentionally drop on the ground and see if you can turn a double play with the guys on 1st and 2nd who would then scramble to run to 3rd and 2nd.... if you can do it.... then its bugged and the IF rule doesnt work.
(you could do this in exhibition mode with 2 HUMAN players... start a game, intentionally walk 2 guys and then throw high fastballs and have the other guy hit the high fastball untill you get a pop-up to the infield.)
Aaaanyways... the point I'm making is even though there might not be anything visually going on... the infield fly rule probably works.Comment

Re: Infield fly rule
kpkpkp... Even with your scenario used, it's obvious it's NOT in the game this year because you should hear the umpire yell it out. I have my sounds customized to my liking, the one of which I enjoy is having the umpire's audio maxed out at 100. I've had the infield fly rule possibility happen to me probably 8-10 times. NEVER has the ump yelled this out. Let's not justify this...2K simply dropped the ball and left it out this year.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Although this is really a non-issue as CPU controlled players will never intentionally let a pop-up drop to the ground. And when users controll their infielders we can all just be big boys and not cheese the infield fly rule to get double plays.Comment
