Is there anything I can do about the fielding?

So I have to say really the only thing about this game that irritates me is the fielding. Well I don't like that you can't check swing on "Classic" hitting, but I can live with it. Anyway it just seems like whenever a ball is hit, every fielder runs like there is 25 lbs of cement in his shoes. And it's always hard for me to gauge how I should actually move the fielders, as it seems like the first 3 or 4 steps is on "Automatic" fielding, and then it gives you control. The only 2 options are "Assist" and "Automatic," is there really no way to just make it 100% manual? Is there anything that can be done to assist with these things, or is this just the way it is?

The cpu is going to make the initial move to the ball for you. Honestly, if it didn't fielding would probably be nearly impossible because this game is so animation driven. As far as the players in the field moving, what are you OF/IF sliders set at? Raise them if you want the players to move better.

And you can check swing with classic hitting. I believe you press A a second time to stop your swing.

The fielding in 2K baseball has always been ugly bad. I stopped fielding a couple of iterations ago. Now I only hit, sometimes for both teams, or just skip half-innings. Really makes playing this game much more enjoyable, and more palatable.

You can, but it doesn't feel natural at all. You have to tap A twice so quickly that you literally have to know you're going to check your swing before you swing in the first place, which makes it useless. At least that's my experience. Works a whole lot better in Total Control Batting. Then again, Total Control Batting has so many other problems going for it ...
