How do young players get better?

I am about 15 games into my franchise that i built with very young players. For example (Bryce Harper, Anthony Rizzo, Wil Myers, & Starlin Marte). Most of these players have 5 star potential. None of them have gained any points in their rating, or earned additional stars. Do you know how this is done? Do i need to change something in the settings? Is it possible for players ratings to increase throughout the franchise season, or do they earn stars? Thanks for the help!!

Their ratings don't change until the off-season.

Yah, that happened to me in a different season.

Players only progress during the offseason, except for hot and cold streaks which give them bumps a week at a time. You'll see those after the first month of the season.

        Players never gain potential however.
