    Joey Votto

After all of the roster updates up until this point were downloaded (I've been away from home for awhile and hadn't been able to update) and the dust had settled, I took a look at the new player ratings. There were some justified nerfings for guys like Albert Pujols and Heath Bell, there were some vast improvements for guys like Josh Hamilton and Aroldis Chapman, and some players were left alone, or changed very slightly.

There is no justification for having Joey Votto's contact still in the 80's. He's hit .300 or better in every MLB season he's been in, he won the MVP award in 2010 and was one of the contenders in 2011, and is having a monster year this year. Here are his stats so far:

.362 batting average (3rd best in MLB, 2nd in NL.)
.484 on base percentage (best in MLB by a long shot.)
.643 slugging percentage (2nd in MLB to Hamilton, 1st in NL.)
    1.127 OPS (best in MLB)

In addition, his 3.9 WAR also leads the MLB by a decent margin.

I can see justification for his power being in the 80s, but there is NO excuse for him not having a power ranking in the high 90s. He's been as consistent as a contact hitter as nearly anybody in the game. In fact, Votto actually went DOWN one overall point, to 94. That is ridiculous.

I'm sure it couldn't have been because the major ratings boosts happened over a week ago when he was hitting more than 40 points less and only had 8 HRs (on pace for less than last year and way less than the year before). While justified as of today, it probably wasn't when the changes happened. Just saying you might want to be nicer when you request ratings boosts if you want them heard.
