    Frustrated with Free Agent Issue

The Show 2012 has a problem with player progressing. As a franchise progresses the league gets older and older because young player's ratings don't increase quickly enough.

So I thought to give 2K12, PC, a try. Players progress well. But the CPU teams don't sign free agents. This makes 2K12 franchise as unplayable as the Show's.

People will probably chime in claiming teams do sign FA's. Teams sign FA's during off seasons, but many FA's aren't touched and those that are signed sign for relatively small salaries and without much competition.

Created a FA, gave him 80+ for most ratings. Nobody signed him the first year, and in the offseason the Braves were the only team that bid for him. They signed him for 5 years, $7.3M total.

Roy Oswalt was in the FA list (87 overall) and nobody signed him. Nobody signed him in the 2012/2013 offseason.

The choice is either no player progression, or teams not signing FA's. Why are the devs so sloppy?

As far as I can tell this is caused by the flawed organization finances. When you start a franchise with the "wrong" team you even can not subscribe to inside edge because the franchise has so little money.

Yes, that's part of the issue. In simming I've found the Cubs go so low in their budget that they can't hold on to even the garbage players they have.

I'm not really seeing this issue. I mean the free agent pool becomes quite large after a few years due to all the newly created fake players (from drafts and the minors) but it's full of old 80 overall and below players. It also has players who tend to be injury prone as well. Rarely have a seen a good young player remain on the free agent list at the end of the offseason.

In year three of one of my sims, sergio romo (82 overall) was on the FA list at the start of the season. He was also 32 years old. But hey, Oswalt was a free agent for almost half the season this year. If one or two good players aren't signed by a team, I can live with that.

The problem with the Show the last few years was that EVERY highly rated player was stuck in free agency for lower rated cheap players. This game doesn't have nearly as big an issue as that one did.

Lastly, if you don't like use 30 team control!

P.S. the Cubs had a surplus after year 5 of $30 mil to spend. lol!
