Rant about pitch speed and pitcher fatigue

Do people not realize any pitch speed higher than 65 will cause bases to no longer be stolen, even when throwing slow pitches?
Test it out in the playoffs in a game that actually means something. At 70 or higher, you can throw a 75mph knucleball and still have the catcher throw out the runner at 2nd with 50 arm strength and 50 accuracy, EVERY TIME.

Thats why they have it set at 60 ON ALL LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY! because it slows even fast pitches down enough to give up stolen bases. At 65, its balanced so that if you throw a pitch in the 90s, you can get the batter stealing out. At 60, you will not get them out as much, at 70 or higher you will ALMOST ALWAYS get them out.

Also, whats up with people DROPPING pitcher fatigue? Like if you play myplayer and you have a pitcher with an 80 or less in stamina, you SHOULD NOT BE THROWING COMPLETE GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pitcher fatigue should be at least 60 or 65, Im looking at 70 pitcher fatigue next most likely. Still playing a little too long, into the 8th and 9th too often.

The catcher arm/strength slider is there for a reason.

Pitch speed has a much more important impact on the game then just affecting steals. Hit variety is also significantly affected.

I agree with you that pitch counts are probably a tad too high. You can globally edit the roster quite easily on PC to try and drop that.

I just think its hard to relay proper pitch count statistics into a game. Relief pitchers rarely go more than 1 inning in real games (pitching ~16 pitches), but they clearly have the ability to go multiple innings. Hence the developer dilemma - do we want a true to "TV" experience or a more reflective experience, allowing the user to manipulate their bullpen rather than the rather stupid use that is currently happening in the majors.

Just need to stress - the pitcher fatigue slider DOES NOT affect pitch counts, and hence DOES NOT influence when/where AI manager will pull pitchers.

It simply effects the difficulty of pitching when fatigued.

The one slider the SHOW has that I'd kill for is the foul ball slider. It didn't make sense with total control batting in 2k, but as I use classic hitting, it would make a big difference.

I play with pitch speed on 75 in my franchise and lead the league in steals. I raised the catcher throw strenght to 60 and dropped the accuracy to 40. If I have a guy with 80 speed or above I get the base maybe half of the time. 85 or above I would say 7 out of 10. 90 or above 9 out of 10 Maybe. I believe thats pretty fair.

the baserunner speed is determined partly by the pitch speed too. find someone with a slow curve and throw it and have the runner take of. if you have a lower pitch speed it will take him longer than if your pitch speed is higher. they have this slowdown til the ball is actually in the catchers glove.

you see the same thing with fastballs/knuckleballs/etc. this was implemented last year i believe so pitch speed wouldnt completely derp stealing
