    Questions from a NOOB

    Hey guys,

Picked up 2k baseball and had a few questions:

1.) Is there an online manual? The paper manual is pretty skimpy.

2.) Is there still the ability to argue with the ump like it was a few years back or did they take that feature out?

3.) Did anyone ever make a classic roster set (like 1988 rosters)? The rosters on 2k share (PS3) are extremely skimpy/limited. I thought there would be hundreds of rosters to choose from but there appears to only be several dozen (most of which are poorly labeled). I guess the community did not make a lot of rosters for this year's version?

4.) When I hit a homerun there is no "suspense factor" b/c the baserunning avatar spoils it by showing an "H" for my runner. Is there any way to turn this off? Also, are there any cinematic camera cuts when you hit a home run? For instance, I like it when a game immediately shows the batter admiring his hit as soon as he hits a bomb.

5.) What is Game Flow exactly? And what's the difference between selecting 2k10 Game flow and real time Game flow?

6.) What does it do to have close play cam on? I haven't noticed anything special. Or is that the bullet time cam when I'm throwing out a baserunner?

7.) What does it do to have clutch moments on under presentation...what are the special presention elements?

    Thanks!

It's a little discouraging not to get any replies.

Ha-ha! Considering there are like five people on the planet even playing this defunct series anymore, you're lucky there's even an MLB 2K forum to post your questions in.

I didn't reply because you asked all the questions I either have no answer for, or never had any interest in discovering for myself. Now, if you want some advice on editing the gameplay to make the game play like actual baseball, well then...

Oh... no ability to argue with the ump, that's long gone. So I can answer something for you, heh.

There is an online manual, but I think it's the same as what you get with the game: http://www.2ksports.ca/2012/04/19/mlb-2k12-manual/

1.) Is there an online manual? The paper manual is pretty skimpy.

Yes, but it is the same as the paper manual. There is an in-game manual and tutorial that is very helpful however.

2.) Is there still the ability to argue with the ump like it was a few years back or did they take that feature out?

Nope, I wish it was still in there.

3.) Did anyone ever make a classic roster set (like 1988 rosters)? The rosters on 2k share (PS3) are extremely skimpy/limited. I thought there would be hundreds of rosters to choose from but there appears to only be several dozen (most of which are poorly labeled). No, I dont think anyone did. However 2K is still updating rosters.. for example shortly after the Sox sent Youkilis to Chicago they did an update.

The "H" is still there, however it is only present if you REALLY bomb it. If you're home run is going to barely get over the fence the "H" does not show up untill after it crosses the fence. So the suspense is still there for close HR's. I like it this way.. like in real life with some HR's you can just tell right away its a long bomb HR... in those cases I dont mind seeing the "H."

5.) What is Game Flow exactly? And what's the difference between selecting 2k10 Game flow and real time Game flow?

          It's just presentation preference.

6.) What does it do to have close play cam on? I haven't noticed anything special. Or is that the bullet time cam when I'm throwing out a baserunner?

Yes, its the cam for close plays where you throw out a runner.

7.) What does it do to have clutch moments on under presentation...what are the special presention elements?

Just some panning camera's nothing too special. Presentation in general is a little beefed up. (better post season stuff, High-Fives at home plate after walk-offs, better more reactive crownd noise) but even though its better than past years its still nothing to get too excited about.

Yeah I knew it would be a long shot b/c it's so late in the season.

Thanks kpkpkp, I really appreciate it. Bought it used and don't know if I'll keep it now, but if it ends up being the last one it is good enough for me to come back for it later next year as a collector's item.
