I mix it up a bit. I will typically use his suggestion unless I'm having a tough time hitting my spots or just isn't feeling it with a certain pitch. I also listen to the dialogue of the announcers for suggestions.

I blame my computer controller. I went two games w/o perfect execution on it, then with the 360 controller I hit it about every other time.

I have one of those Rock Candy Controllers and the thing is wound so tightly.

You either need to speed up the pitch meter speed or your good at timing the release, I can hardly ever hit Max pitch.

One thing the computer suggestions do is keep you mixing up the pitches.

Sometimes, the catcher suggestions make no sense. (I wish there was a button to shake them off.)

Granted, I've only played 1 game, but I did not notice the CPU shelling me on repetetive pitches, although they were knuckleballs.

The computer pitches you differently based on how you hit. If you swing at every pitch, expect to get nothing to hit...just like in real life

do you have to use the analong stick pitching or is there an option to do the old style of just hitting a button?

You can do the push button approach, aim with the stick, hold the button until the expanding circle hits the target, and then release.
