Just wanted to know if anybody has played a night game on the ps3 yet.
I own 2k10 and 2k11 and the game looks fine during daygames but horrible during night games.
The lighting is all wrong then. During the night games the white home team uniforms look so bright they are lighting up. The difference between day and night is really really big on ps3.
That is what kept me from buying 2k12, well that and the animations, lack of celebrations etc.

So, really interested to learn if this was changed or not.

2k has really good sound and atmosphere not just the commentary. It sounds like you are at the game. The crowd isn't too whatever it is. The Show has very cartooney sound imo where the crowd is always jacked up. It just sounds like baseball. I also like hte music in the background. Did they change it this year?

Some people don't think it's terrible. Just because you think it's terrible doesn't make it true. If anything I tend to think the truth is the game is not terrible. Is it as good as the show? maybe not, but it's not a terrible game. I've played it.

People can have differences of opinion I don't care. But to come here like how can anyone like it, I just told you why. It's not a terrible game.

Could it be better? Absolutely but I think most people know the graphics aren't up to par. That's been beaten to death.

Should 2k be ashamed? I don't know. I doubt the 360 could even do the show. It's completely different architecture. The Show as designed for the ps3. Could 2k have done better? I think so. But I don't think the game is terrible. They were fighting a losing battle from the start. It would have been nice if they stepped up to the plate more I agree.

I still say 2k is a solid baseball game and a decent alternative though. I actually like it better in a lot of areas. The Show could learn a thing or two from 2k. They've already started ti take a lot of the presentation elements from it. The Show was behind the curve in a lot of gameplay elements as well. Still are. The Show seems to have better lighting this year, but 2k has always had better lighting.

One thing I'm noticing from the vids is that balls don't seem to die as much in the gaps.
In 2k12, I had a hard time getting extra-base hits because the ball seemed to stop or slow so an OF could scoop it up and keep the runner at 1st.
Seeing a few more extra base hits is great!

I'd say that's an argument from years previous, but it's not the issue this year. The issue as I see it has to do with 2K releasing the exact same product, with no new features or improvements, and still charging $60 for it as if it were a brand new game. That's pretty much unheard of in the gaming industry. They whipped together a new roster, not even bothering to update player pics, and then called it a wrap. It's a moneygrab, that's it.

Now I don't have a vested interested in this as I play PC exclusively. It's just that I see people getting into the same back-and-forth arguments that were valid up until last year, but that IMO don't apply anymore. It's not about being or not being a terrible game: we all know what we're getting with 2K baseball at this point. It's really a moral discussion about charging gamers $60 for a roster update.

I agree with that. It's the exact same game. They updated the commentary and music and logos and intro screen. Adjusted teh colors a bit and added uniforms and rosters. It's nothing new. The Show had a full dev cycle and upgraded their game like a normal yearly release. 2k did not. They released the same game changed some logos and are charging $60. Is that 2k's fault? Yeah. They should have been working on it all along but that's how developers are these days. IT's about the bottom line and they won't do anything they don't have to. Most game companies are like this these days though. It's become pathetic. You rarely see a company go the extra mile.

Even the show as good as it is just goes through the motions. They don't add anything that innovative. It's basically the same game as well. It improved more than 2k did, but it's still not that great.

me personally i'd love to see real variety in these games and stuff happens that is like i can't believe they put that in there. But game companies just don't do that anymore. It used to be like that back in the day. But most of these companies just refine and rehash these days.

The Show has their model and has been rehashing this entire gen as well. Look at any easports game. 2k took it to another level.

most of these developers aren't even developers anymore. They are like car salesman. It's like a new version of the honda accord. Same car I was driving 10 years ago.

It's not cool to be nerdy and innovative.

Look, it was MLB who wanted the game published. 2K had no intention of making another MLB game, and when the league was made aware that they wouldn't have a game on the 360, they cut 2K a deal w/ licensing and said "put something out."

2K really had no choice, they did what they could.

If $60.00 is too much for you, then maybe you've got your priorities in check and you spend wisely.

Otherwise, I want to play baseball this season and I don't want the same rosters / league alignment from last year.

So I'll spend the $60, and thank 2K/MLB for giving me a newer game to play this year.

2K really had no choice, they did what they could.

This is the problem right there though, is the consumer has been beaten up to the point where they just accept this stuff. Where's that at&t commercial about we want more when you need it. I Want to see drunk fans running out onto the field half naked being chased by the police during the game. I want to see bats flying into the stands. Players taking curtain calls. All that stuff.

Have to back up a bit after rereading this. You say they had "no choice but to cut a deal"? Wouldn't another choice have been to not cut a deal so as not to release a poor game, knowing they didn't have the time? They chose to take the money and run. You make it sound like MLB twisted their arm.
