    Re: collision detection on homeruns??

On homeruns, last year the ball would just dissapear. If there is collision detection, and the ball hits the scoreboard, or a wall past the fence, it would bounce just like in real life.

Collision detection on homeruns adds SO much to a game.

Last year's ASB had it, and it made homers 100 times more interesting.

Out of all the HR's I seen in ASB2004 (only rented it) the ball just disappeared into the crowd and the screen kinda bounced around. I didnt think it was all that special. I guess I didnt hit the ball hard enough.

                  You apparently didn't.

What happens when it's "disappearing" is that a fan "catches" it... at least on ASB, the camera stops, showing where the ball stopped.

And if you play Home Run Derby or something, then you can get some MOON shots (my best is 580 or something, check asb longest blast thread for more), and you can see some NICE shots and stuff.

                        Wha?

Virtually everytime I hit a homerun it ricocheted off of something.

One time I actually got a ball stuck on a ledge on the NY Mets scoreboard. Nice.

This one time, Sammy hit this huge moon shot to center in Wrigley, and it kind of struck a glancing blow off the left side of the scoreboard in center and still went out onto the street.

What would also really add a nice touch would be if, along with "collision detection", they would make it so when an opposing teams player hit a HR the crowd is silent so you can actually hear the ball ricochet off whatever it hits. It would add a little drama and satisfaction to hitting a HR on the road.
