I THINK i read that this year and last for that matter, that a player can't hit a homerun without using the power swing. Not sure where i heard it or read it, but can someone please confirm that for me? Thanks! That would be a game killer for me. Ug.

I could hit homeruns with the contact swing last year, it DEFINITELY wasn't as often, though. However, I did it probably once every series or so.
What's less often to happen is that you will get a no-doubter with a cutscene for a homerun with a contact swing.
Besides, this year, they give you a one button swing option... not exactly power swings, but not contact either. -

In the demo I hit one with Soriano. It's possible unless they've revamped it for the final version. The whole notion of power and contact swings is stupid, but at least it seems likely you'll be able to hit a HR if you make good "contact".Comment

i think i read in that godawfully long "any questions" fatpitcher thread that they lessened the difference between contact and power swings even further, although as an almost always using contact swing hitter, i hit enough homers....]Comment

I'm glad they have the option for one swing button this year. I played WSB 2K3 the other day for the first time in a few months and I forgot about the 2 buttons, so I was just using contact. I kept thinking, "Why the hell am I hitting all these ground outs?"
