I dunno. If I was playing with the Mets earlier in the season, I'd hate it if all of a sudden they had a cheap roster after the trade deadline selloff... if the team I was used to playing with all year is suddenly crap. Just using that as an example. It would probably make me stop playing the game.

Maybe it could be an option. They should let us use either the default roster or the official update for online play. One thing they can't let us do is use whatever roster we want otherwise some people could have a stacked team. It should be limited to the default and offical updates.Comment

in the example you gave - i think either you would be a die/hard Mets fan and play online with the crap they had left , or if your not a huge met fan you got like 30 other teams to choose , grab the yanks or bosox and get movin ...
What if your team had traded its talent before the season- do you think its crap and want to use 2003 rosters? I am a pirates fan and my team is more crap at the begining of the season , then the mets or most teams would be even if they trade their good players at the trade deadline.
How about if your a diehard met fan and they end up fighting in the playoff race and add Randy Johnson for the stretch run, or pull off a major trade swapping like 3 stars with 3 fun to use stars, Wouldn't you feel disapointed using rosters from spring training ?
I see your point , but its going to balance out , and I would much rather have the up=to=date rosters that match my real favorite teams.Comment

Re: Quick question
Yeah, this is a great feature, however the EASports games do allow this but they also make everyone download the latest rosters from their servers so everyone has to use the same roster. This presents a problem for those of us that want to Edit players who are not part of the MLBPA as no doubt EA's servers will think you don't have the latest update if you edit unnamed players and will automatically overite your hard earned editing work unless I guess if you create two seperate roster files.Comment

Yes, assume I'm a Mets fan, and I've been playing with them all year. I know that team inside and out... which hitter I want off the bench, which relief pitcher I want at a certain point in the game... Then in July, their roster changes dramatically for the worse. What if I don't want to have to get used to another team? It does not even out, in fact it polarizes the teams, like it does in the MLB every summer. There are some teams that no one will want to play at that point in the season. The game would lose all value for me at that point. I guess it'd be time for football anyway.. hehe.
I'm just playing devil's advocate here since I'm not going to be playing online anyway. Just wondering about the other side of the coin.Comment
