    Re: IGN POTD

Just watched the video. I played WSB last year and thought it was pretty good. Had to cringe at that swing animation (swatting as somene called it) and the noise the swing would make, but it played a pretty solid game of ball.

However, the swing animation is back and , really, the bat is HUGE. Why did they do that? I don't recall this in last years game. It looks really, really weird.

Okay, besides the bats and swings, there's nothing good about this game?

I just watched the new video on ESPN for about 3-4 minutes. The batting animations are HORRIBLE compared to MVP, they look like frames are missing and just generally look a generation behind ASB and MVP.

No excuse Sega/VC/Blueshift... too much competition to come out last with such obvious shortcomings.

And the player faces look very poor from that video...

I had my hopes up for ESPN since it was #1 as WSB last year, but this appears to be a setback year for the title.

Not when he defends MVP like it's family. Criticism is ok when you dish it out fairly but this kid does nothing but complain about ESPN. He always has something bad to say about it but when people complain about MVP's bugs he acts as if they don't exist. People like him do nothing but cause trouble.

Oddly enough, what i'm *NOT* seeing is the "vacuum glove" thing and the "all strike zones are the same size" thing. It may not be clear that the strike zones are different at first, but if you pay careful attention, they do differ in size very slightly.

                        Hmmmm....

What i'm also not seeing is the "hot and cold zones are all the same for every batter" thing. These are clearly different for each hitter. That plus there'sa slider for hit and runs, which we were told weren't going on at all.

Also, when Andruw Jones breaks his bat, you can clearly see the ball making contact with the bat.

I dunno... Sure as hell *feels* like what we'd gotten to this point was misinformation, but whatever. it's over now.

I don't remember complaining about the bats last year. You have got to admit, the bat is thin and really long.

I said it played a good game of ball. Hopefully the people who make these games see the criticism and will do something about it. It is not wrong to criticize something obviously wrong or out of whack in ANY game, whether it be MVP, ASB, etc. etc. Hopefully it gets things fixed.

So if the bat were even bigger, that would be o.k. with you?
