While I look at the reviews, I don't let that alone determine whether or not to buy a game. Sports games especially take longer to form an opinion on than most reviewers have.
A game may play well but it still will stink if someone hits 120 home runs every year or bats .450 for the season. Not that this is the case with the baseball titles this year.
I have MVP and ASB and I am enjoying MVP except for the "no AI stealing bases". I can't really get into ASB yet but I am still playing it every so often to see if it grows on me. I really think and hope that ESPN will be the best one of the bunch this year.

You guys are either eternal optimists, fanboys, or blind. There are zero indications in reviews, screenshots, or videos that ESPN will stand out graphically, or in any way other than the badly reviewed first person mode. I take NO pleasure in saying this, I wish it wasn't true, but it sure seems to be.

I too am holding out hope for this game. I currently play 989's MLB which I think is alot of fun online. It certainly surprised the heck out of me considering it wasn't even on my radar of baseball games to play this year.

MVP went back because of their server issues and online bugs.

ESPN is the game that I hope comes the closest to realistic gameplay that we can get from a video baseball game this year. I've already commented on the swinging anims and am willing to give it a pass as long as the game plays a true game of baseball and their online game is smooth (their other titles were awful online).

I am certain that next year will be an improvement in the batter/pitcher animations. First person was cool for football, but I don't think it's gonna fly in the baseball game.

                      Just my opinion.

The only thing I ever look for in a review is new features and any drawbacks.

Here's the reason why I don't look for anything else. NHL 2000 was, as usual, hyped to be the best hockey game ever made. Every single reviewer thought it was the best. While it was fun for the first few weeks the arcadiness really started getting to me. The biggest example is being able to skate right past defenders and being able to get off a good shot. Then I played NHL championship 2000. It was so much more realistic in terms of gameplay and it got worse reviews. Ever since then I never put much stock into them. I appreciate the effort though because they are helpful in their info.
