Griffey doesn't really CRUSH them. I'd say that Delgado is another contender for this category, along with Ryan Klesko.

You maybe too young to remember Griffey in his prime, but when he was right, he used to hit BOMBS.

His prime was like 3 years ago lol. He used to be the best overall player in the game and he absolutely killed the Yankees. I remember a few tape measure shots from him.

Not to continue piling on the goofy idea that lefties can't hit the ball as far as righties (seriously, that's the most ludicrous thing I've read in a while...) but here's some facts to consider.

      1. Mickey Mantle crushed a few tape measure shots batting from the left side in his day. Among his most famous were two shots he hit out of Tiger Stadium, one of which was estimated at 634 feet. Both were hit off Paul Foytack. Mantle also crushed a 620' bomb off Senators righthander Pedro Ramos, among many lefty bombs he hit.

      2. Willie Stargell's reputation as one of the early-70's most feared sluggers came from his hitting of at least 8 bombs that landed on the 86-foot high roof at Forbes Field.

      3. As someone else mentioned, Reggie Jackson crushed quite a few 450-500+ ft homers in his day.

      4. Ditto Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, and Lou Gehrig.

Not only is it an odd discussion, but it is a discussion (essentially) about MVP baseball.

This is the ESPN forum. Is it possible to discuss that? Or are the "bugs" in MVP so critical that not only must they overwhelm all discussion about that game, but all other games as well?

Let's get back to discussing ESPN, please.

                              LOL.

I'm actually agreeing with Bill on this one, I think. Or at least I'm not disagreeing with him.

Not only is a history of left-handed power hitters (and whether they exist) a strange discussion, it's obviously not a discussion about ESPN MLB.

My point was to the thread in general, not Bill. I probably could have made that clearer in my original post.
