I'm actually agreeing with Bill on this one, I think. Or at least I'm not disagreeing with him.

Not only is a history of left-handed power hitters (and whether they exist) a strange discussion, it's obviously not a discussion about ESPN MLB.

My point was to the thread in general, not Bill. I probably could have made that clearer in my original post.

Darryl Strawberry hit some of the LONGEST home runs EVER! He hit one in Montreal on opening day, 1988. The ball hit the concrete ring at the top of Olympic Stadium (above the lights!)Incidentally, the ball was still traveling UP when it struck the ring.

McGill University sent some people in to "measure" the shot They concluded that had the ball not hit anything it would have traveled 580 feet.

If you look carefully at the longests HRs ever hit, I think you will find that many of the top ones were hit by lefties (Mantle-even though he was a switch hitter, Strawberry, Stargell, Ruth, Bonds, etc.)
