Have any MLB2005 players switched to ESPN?

My current favorite baseball game is MLB2005 for the PS2. (Over MVP and ASB for the XBOX which I have also owned) However, some of the recent posts are tempting me to try ESPN for the XBOX. None of the Blockbusters in my area are carrying ESPN yet, so I'm considering picking a copy up...

Can anyone do a quick comparison? Or maybe tell me why you switched?

    Thanks! Al

I have all 3 for Xbox and MLB 2005 for PS2. I seem to play MLB 2005 the most but the others are good in different ways. If MLB had offline throws and check swings it would be no contest IMO!

ESPN has very good AI. Ive been picked off a few times, the cpu steals bases! (even 3rd base)

Yes, I made the switch. I was enjoying MLB 2005 quite a bit, having come to accept that it simply didn't replicate certain aspects of baseball (i.e. check swings, walks, offline throws, positional player fatigue, etc.). But ESPN gave me all those things. As much as I like hitting in MLB, I couldn't really go back. As someone said on another forum, ESPN was really the only baseball game released this year. The other three resemble the sport, but they aren't really baseball.

Re: Have any MLB2005 players switched to ESPN?

i have played MLB alot and ESPN some since i got it. So far my oberservations are that ESPN has not changed a whole lot from last year but that doesn't really matter because it was the best game last year (in my opion). The new confidence meter is really nothing new and is already built into some games like MLB, also the power meter for pitching is okay but really has the same effect as MLB's holding the button down. I really think the first person cam was a good idea but just doesn't work, but the action cam works great once you get use to it. ESPN's AI logic is slightly better than MLB. ESPN will walk you, pitch around you, pick you off and steal more often than MLB. Also ESPN has better roster control. But MLB atmosphere is much better and the guessing game at the plate becomes addictive. Also the franchise mode in MLB is better than any other game out there. Also the bad swing animations are back in ESPN but after a few games you began to ignore it. The overall lighting in ESPN may be better but the player models in MLB are spot on as well as the player animations. The double play animations in MLB are the best. In ESPN it looks like the second baseman is falling down. Also the player of the game and the play of the game and the constant verbal stat updates during the game in the booth i believe gives MLB the edge. So if you want a great game with a great AI you can't go wrong with ESPN, in fact out side of a few glitches (which i have seen the runner scoring from third on the last out during an exhitbtion game) on the field (by the way every game has them) ESPN plays better in the field then any other game! But the over all package i still believe falls just short of what MLB has to offer.

Guys, What about the crowd noise people are complaining about. Is it just a very calm crowd, or is there really no crowd noise at all?
