Questions for the serious sim guys

First off let me say I have MVP and while it is a blast to play the A.I. bugs we all know about are beginning to wear on me. Now its been stated repeatedly that you can draw walks and the A.I. will steal on you in ESPN. My question is "Do these things happen realistically?".

Are my chances of drawing a walk with Bonds better than Neifi Perez?
Will the computer run like crazy on Piazza, but be afraid of Pudge?

I want stealing and walks as much as the next guy, but I don't want Edgar Martinez trying to steal on me or people pitching around Pokey Reese. Thanks in advance for your replies.
    Good job! Good effort!

Yep pitchers are careful to the big hitters. In my Royals franchise, opposing pitchers alway pitch real carefully to Mike S. and Juan G.

And yep the fast guys steel and the slow ones don't. It works great. And another great thing is that you will walk at a realistic pase AND strikeout at a good pace.

GET THE GAME you will not be let down.

In regard to walks, yes the pitcher does seem to pitch around hitters. I drew two walks with Jeff Bagwell in one game. I could have drawn a third in the same game. Had 3-0 pitch, smacked a double off a pitch right over the plate. I know, I know, never swing at a 3-0 pitch, but wanted to make the computer pay for grooving it. I have walked with all types of hitters, but the CPU definitely will pitch around your tougher hitters.

The stealing seems to be just right. I had the computer do a double steal on me. I haven't seen anything questionable. The times I have seen the computer steal, it seemed to make sense regarding the situation. On the flip side it seems possible to steal with players that don't steal that much. I have been thrown out stealing with Berkman, but stole a base with Bagwell. Also Biggio was thrown out. So it is possible to steal with players who normally don't.

Some of the animations and ball physics aren't the best, but something feels right. Feels more like baseball than other titles.

I agree 100%. I really like some things in MVP, minors, batting, etc.. but I took it back for ESPN and I'm actually enjoying the results the game produces. If you are more into accurate gameplay, ESPN is better, imo.

Playing a game 'feels' right. I like using the classic one button swing. Played against the rocket last night with the Cardinals, he pitched very well against me, but made a mistake pitch and Edmonds let him know it. It doens't have all the razzle MVP has, but the gameplay, commentary, and stadium graphics look great.

I traded in MVP today and will give ESPN a shot. I'm a gameplay realism junkie and the nagging issues of MVP finally reached my boiling point. I just hope the game is fun and realistic.
                      Good job! Good effort!
