Re: 2k11 was the best.
If anyone else has played enough of 2K11, 2K12 and 2K13, I'd be interested to hear what is different about all 3. -
Re: 2k11 was the best.
Here is my postmortem of the entire series on 'Next Gen'
MLB 2K6 - An abortion. I bought it the day it came out on xbox 360 and it was awful.
MLB 2K7 - Very solid baseball game. Some of the best graphics of the series - but way to HR friendly and no playable minor leagues.
MLB 2K8 - First and only game to introduce real minor league stadiums. Fully playable minors. Introduced the analog pitch motions - overall the game was solid after a patch that fixed framerate issues. Signature styles were great, but there was a noticeable dip in graphics from 2k7 - notably faces were orange, jersey resolution was down, fans no longer caught balls hit into the stands.
MLB 2K9 - Game was re-made from scratch. I actually thought the graphics were pretty sharp, but the game had an insane amount of bugs and bad animations. Sold poorly.
MLB 2K10 - New player models and stadiums - again. And new camera angles. Was a solid step forward fom 2k9, but by this point the game's rep was so bad, that it had a tough time gaining momentum. There were still a lot of lineup bugs and funky animations.
MLB 2K11 - Very solid, polished version of 2k10 with new animations and slightly improved graphics and bat sounds. Solid game that didn't get enough love. Still some weird lineup glitches and no good players ever made it to free agency in franchise.
MLB 2K12 - Another coat of paint on 2k11 - some of the uniform colors were fixed and there were updates to stadium scoreboards. Still a ton of bugs.
MLB 2K13 - The exact same game as 2k12 with updated rosters and music.
Overall - 2K7 and 2k8 were my favorite. 2K7 was better graphically, but 2k8 played a better game of baseballComment

Re: 2k11 was the best.
My biggest issue with 2k11 was that once you pressed the throw button there was no way to cancel it. So many free bases because of it.Comment

Re: 2k11 was the best.
I am torn between 2k11 and 2k12. 2k11 had more camera options which was a big plus, but the support 2k12 has received over the last year makes it a better game to me to get at this point.
If my pc could still handle games 2k12 pc would be my game of choice.Comment

Re: 2k11 was the best.
2K11 was fun but the incredibly rigid hitting system bothered me. You had to go to the opposite field on outside pitches and it led to a crazy number of oppo-bombs. It really bugged me after awhile. 2K13 is much better in that regard. The hitting system is a lot more realistic imo. Never played 2K12 so I can't comment on it.Comment

Re: 2k11 was the best.
A huge difference between 2K11 and 2K13 is how much they toned down the power swing. In 2K11 I could mash a ton of HRs with the power at 35 or 40 just swinging power most of the time. There was a massive difference (too much imo) between a power and contact swing. It's much smaller in 2K13 and I like it a lot more that way.Comment
