I bought both, MVP is collecting dust, while ESPN is getting daily use.

I also own both. If you want a realistic, slow paced game, get ESPN. If you want a prettier, faster paced (less realistic) game, get MVP.

Both games have their positives and negatives. But in my opinion, ESPN plays the better game of baseball.

I've already got MVP so I'm trying to decide what other baseball game I should get, because well, MVP sucks and isn't going to satisfy my baseball wants.

I hear conflicting things about ASB, ESPN, and MLB.

Here's what I basically want: 1) Realism in played games, 2) Record/stat tracking, I want the game to say something when I hit 74 homers in a season or something, 3) Solid franchise/dynasty mode. I want to be able to manage a franchise for years, I want to be able to sim a lot of games because I plan on developing a team for a decade+.

I think ESPN will be up your alley. The gameplay, while not perfect, is very realistic, especially in the batter/pitcher set up. You can't paint corners all day, can fight off pitches, and can draw walks regularly. The substitution AI is adequate but not great -- you won't see the manager substituting for lefty/righty matchups, for instance. But overall, it's the most realistic console baseball game I've seen.

There are audio acknowledgements of feats in franchise. I'm playing with the Cubs, and they have mentioned when Sosa has passed people on the all-time homer list. They also have acknowledged when my pitchers have hit 100ks on the season. Those are the only two I've seen so far.

The GM mode is really deep. Plus, with the Gamecast, you can sim games quickly but still be involved in what's going on, even jump in to finish a game.
