    Variable Strike Zones?

I noticed this on the MLB boards...

"The strike zone is scaled to the size of each player to be the “major league rules” as quoted below:

The STRIKE ZONE is that area over home plate the upper limit of which is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the shoulders and the top of the uniform pants, and the lower level is a line at the hollow beneath the knee cap. The Strike Zone shall be determined from the batter's stance as the batter is prepared to swing at a pitched ball. (For diagram of STRIKE ZONE see page 23.)"

I was wondering if anyone knew if this would also be in ESPN. I really don’t like the same generic strike zone for all batters, especially when sizes and stances vary so much.

If I'm not mistaken, it was in ESPN last year. I'm playing it right now and Jimmy Rollins' strike zone is smaller than Jim Thome's.

        That's been in since WSB2k3....

Most people talk about variable strike Zones, the usually mean from the Umpire's viewpoint..

Any game that includes the book definition of the strike zone is doomed to have an unrealistically large strike zone... WSB 2k3 was the worst offender.

ASB 2004 had the strike zone that all other developers should 'learn from', aka, copy.

Yea, but now I want to see Umps woth different zones, like in real life. Or calls they dont get or just plain olke bad calls. It happens all the time in the Bigs. Why not in the game? I dont like the same ole zone for each Ump...no matter the batters height.

in wsb2k3 they didn't have variable stike zones, but i liked how sometimes they would call a pitch a strike even if it was out of the strike zone, or call a pich a ball if it was on the border of the strike zone
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
