    Game Informer Preview

    Videos coming next week.

I'll offer a quick opinion on the article, basically I want to touch on Franchise.

There won't be playable minors, but there are going to be minor league teams with a boatload of stats. That's plenty for me. And I'm excited to see how deep the stats go (player stats and also all the stats tracked in the user profile mentioned at IGN). WSB 2K3 (I never played ESPN 2K4) had good stat depth, even when compared to MVP 2004 a year later (WSB actually tracked year-by-year career stats). So this is definitely an area I'm looking forward to this year, since baseball is such a game of stats.
Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers
Marquette Golden Eagles | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee Panthers

Statements like this from "reviewers" are why I never buy games based on what they say.

" But, if you manage to guess right the exact location of the pitch will be highlighted in the strike zone, making it extremely easy to hit. The game also goes into the telegraph animation, and at this point you’re prompted into some neat button mashing gameplay. During a telegraphed pitch time slows down tremendously and the camera zooms in on the ball. A meter appears on-screen that requires you to smash the A button (in the Xbox version) to fill it up. Once you’ve filled it up as much as you can, since the whole scenario is bound by a time limit, you then need to hit the B button at just the right time to swing the bat. While it’s a bit arcadey in nature, the whole process of smacking a tremendous longball is pretty fun. The telegraph animations are neat to watch with their slow-mo effects, and it’s hard to beat the feeling of satisfaction after having correctly read a pitch and punished the thrower for making a mistake."

Obviously referring to the SLAM ZONE. Which as we already know can be turned off....thank God.

You can select any major league field to play on, as well as tweak and edit field characteristics, such as time of day (which progresses in real-time) and weather conditions.
                Woot!!

Another good thing is that you can choose the basic "point and click" method for pitching if you want. I have seen a few people state that they like this method rather than the new K-Zone method, so it is great that they are making it an option. Man, I want this game!

There is also a MVP type meter.

So, three pitch methods? The old, the new, and the uh, much newer. Can't go wrong with that.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Slam zone just sounds way too easy to pull off.
