How does the hitting work?

I am confused. First of all, do you aim like MVP? In MVP, I never really knew if you were supposed to aim where you want to hit the ball, or aim where you wanted to contact the ball.

One thing I don't like though is if you guess lucky where the pitch is going to be that is supposed to be how you get alot/most of you homeruns, this is a big turn off for me.
