Posed my question and here's the answer.

q: I like the K ZONE pitching that you guys have implemented. My question is how are release points handle in this game. I was hoping you guys would have went the route of the ESPN College Hoops free throw system, i.e. different pitching styles with the wind up, how he holds the ball and release points, would have been awesome. I mean watching the pitcher instead of a meter, anyway the game is looking very good.

a: That’s a good question Backbreaker, we experimented with many pitching interfaces, and one of them was actually similar to what you are talking about involving the release point and pitcher specific animations. We found that this was not as playable. A pitcher’s arm moves a lot faster than a baseball player shooting a free throw. Also when pitching a ball, we can only change the release point by so much, so the margin of error would have been too small for this to work effectively.

Well that is how MLB 2006 works. A pitch meter if you are late the ball is in the dirt, if you are high you hang it...

It seems pretty playable from what I've heard...

K-Zone looks alright so far though, I like some of the concepts, excited about trying it all out.

They system he is asking about would have no meter, if I'm understanding him correctly. Simply watching the timing of the pitchers wind up and arm movement.

Really? No offense to the topic creater, but that would be kinda ridiculous and insanely tough and hard to perfect for almost anybody. It would also be pretty frustrating unless it was heavily cpu assisted.

No offense taken, as the producer said, they tried it but couldn't get the release points perfected due to arm speed. So I don't think its that ridiculous. If you played college hoops, you would get the idea of what I'm talking about and maybe your response would have been a little more tempered.
