    This game is seriously lacking.........

When it comes to personalized animations & stances, these just dont cut it. They also need to brighten up the colors a little bit. It seems way too dark, while MVP on the other hand is too bright. I think MLB 2006 looks the best color wise, as it's sorta in between ESPN & MVP.
But other than that, the game seems to be shaping up pretty nicely. In fact the ESPN presentation is just downright awesome.

Here are the animation problems bothering me.

    1) They need to seriously work on the signature batting stances. Most of them look pretty generic, even for the top stars.

    2) Hopefully they'll add signature swings for certain players next year. It looks kinda silly seeing every player have a Griffey follow through.

    3) What happened to the HR celebrations? On all the HR's I've seen, the batter just swings wildly without even watching the ball.

So I would have to say that overall, I'm fairly intrigued by some of the improvements kush has made. Just not quite enough flair in the animation department for me. Maybe next year.

    1) Agreed. I will be working with editing batting stances to get people to look closer to their true-to-life stance. At least the generic stances look good this year, though.

    2) As far as I know, not one game has signature swings, but rather assigned swings (one-handed or two-handed). I don't see how they are swinging like Griffey in any way, though. Just because it's one-handed doesn't mean it's Griffey.

    3) Very true, this animation needs to be redone. Not just that, but it's that same animation for whenever they make contact. The main problem with it is that their head pulls, and tucks right onto their shoulder... because honestly, when I saw that Kendall home run to left, it looked much better than the Byrnes single to center, because it looked a little more like he was actually watching the ball. Another thing is that they break down leaning forward too much.

I'm more concerned about how the players step to the ball during a pitch... they turn away from the field way too much... and it just looks bad for some batting stances, it's just not right to have that sometimes.

Oh well, Kush's first year. They'll do much better next year, I guarantee it.

And honestly, this game is getting MUCH more heat than MVP ever got their first year, and EA had 6 more months to make their title, also (WITH knowledge of producing a baseball videogame).

You're right, no game really has signature swings except Ichiro's in MVP last year. What they need to do is just have 3 or 4 different swing follow throughs & assign them to certian players. From what I've seen, I think they only have 2 this year & they're not assigned.

as i said in another post. Espn should really sit down and takes notes on how to do motion capture, as well as transition animations. Once ESPN has that then it will be the game to beat, but until then ESPN will fall once again.

I have to agree that the animation needs to be reworked. The swings just don't look fluid at all. Same swings for everybody. I wish they would follow MLB 2006 in having actual batting stances and swings. Also the players themselves need to be reworked. The helmets look to big on the players. I also can't really tell one player from another in the game. They all look the same.
                MLB: Chicago Cubs
                NFL: San Diego Chargers
                NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
                NBA: Chicago Bulls
                NCAA: Iowa Hawkeyes

                    Lets face it...
                    1. New development team
                    2. New game
                    3. Less time to work on the little details

Overall though...If this game even grades a C or is mediocre I think that will be an achievement for 2K as we move into the next gen consoles...2K will get this game right because it will likely be their flagship game
