    Somebody Is listening

Have you noticed that immediately after people complained that ESPN was not showing enough of the game there has been an almost immediate influx of long videos and media?

Could somebody at 2K be listening and watching?...I think it would be safe to assume so simply because of all the other boards I've frequented OS seems to have the least amount of FanBoy-itis.

    Worst fanboyitis sites are:

    1. ESPN - by far the worst...The mere mention of the two words EA will cause bedlam
    2. EA - not nearly as bad and tio be quite honest more of a boring bored as opposed to being polluted with fanboyitis

IMO it appears that here you still have a few fanboys but the overall tone seems to be driven by a more mature poster who is unbias and willing to actually discuss the games from the standpoint of a gamer who just wants a great game as opposed to being hung up on who makes it.

    Re: Somebody Is listening

Actually, VC, and for that matter, other companies spend a lot of time surfing these boards. Fatpitcher was in the MLB 2k4 boards last year. (of course that ended badly) The guys from 989 are on the MLB 2006 board; giving previews and actively soliciting feedback. And Murete was on the College Hoops board.

I like the fact that developers are visiting and listening. It helps to improve the games with the many great ideas that are generated here and it is nice to know that, if there are concerns, they have a chance to be heard through the active dialog this forum provides.

I feel that, due to the fact that developers actually visit here, this is a great site. For the most part there are many insightful, intelligent, and committed gamers who know their stuff. The developers are smart enough to see that too. They get a free focus group that is committed to getting the best games that money can buy.

I fear that in your extensive study of fanboy-itis, you may have been infected.

Afro! I remember you from the ESPN boards. I am with you there man, these boards seem to have at least a little more maturity and intelligent conversation to them. Have you checked out 989's MLB yet? That is where my money is going to first this year, then will maybe try the other 2 .

                    Re: Somebody Is listening

While I'm sure they are lurking and listening to what we have to say, ESPN isn't responsible for the influx of videos.

Review sites are beginning to receive their betas and releasing their own video content.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

If you go to a site of a particular brand/company the last thing you should expect is non-bias views unfortunately. If you go to a Cavs Fan sight the last thing you should expect to see is a thread titled "What the Pistons need to do inorder to improve and repeat as champs?" If someone doesn't see a thread like this they shouldn't be pissed or expect to see one at a Cavs website.

OS is certainly the melting pot for all views and opinions though.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
