    Predict Possible Flaws

Here are things I'm thinking about that factor into my decision whether or not I'll get this game.

(1)Has anybody noticed that the batter seems to do some wierd follow-thru which carries him in a complete 180 and just facing the crowd and just staring off into the crowd.

(2)The bats looks like a giant toothpick.

(3)During rundowns the runner runs through defensive players in the base paths many many times, a major clipping issue that just saps the atmosphere right out of the game.

(4)Jason Kendall hit a 500 foot homer that was down and away from him in the IGN video of an A's/M's game. Either a major ratings problem, a very very lucky hit, or homeruns are too easy and/or go to far, or possibly all of the above. Or maybe they were just playing on the easiest difficulty possible.

(5)If you guess where the pitch is going before it actually comes, you get a bonus in attributes apparently. This is good I guess because in real-life if you throw it where a player is looking for it, he will usually hit it better, but- They try and take the best of both worlds. You don't have any negative effects by guessing wrong. Which makes sense, because that would suck because guessing is mostly luck before you see it. They don't give you the option to hold down where you want it or try and judge the pitch and then actually make the decision where the ball is going like in the other games. If it is to much timing based you can get to good by practice and get unrealistic stats.

(6)Pitchers physically throw one certain pitch worse the more they throw it. This makes no sense, in some ways its actually backwards. Bartolo Colon starts out throwing 94-96 and ends up at 97-98 by the end of the game. Maybe the batters get better at picking it up, but pitchers don't actually thow that pitch less accuracy as much as just throwing less accurately or less hard in general when they get tired.

(7)The batting animation looks the same everytime, it is an awkwardly downward angled swing everytime and the players never bring their hands in, square their shoulders on inside pitches nor do they lean over the plate and ever look like they are trying to go opposite field.

(8)As far as I know there is no way to intentionally pop up a ball and hit a sac fly on purpose.

(9)Slam Zone is all about who can tap a button faster, I might not buy this at all if you can't turn it off or something.

(10)Players can't even run heal to toe, they run flat footed and seem to glitch to a stop when running bases.

Those aren't flaws, those are intentional implemented features (except for maybe #4).

Don't worry about it. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Ugly bats, swings, contact hitters hitting 500 ft homeruns (the guy had 3 homeruns in almost 600 appearences and only slugged over .400 once), clipping problems and bad animation are intended? I don't think so.

Even if they are intended does that keep it from being a flaw? Surely not.

Actually, the bat sounds were intended.

And also... I already said #4 was an exception.

I asked a Blue Shift developer about the bats... he said that changing them would mean totally redoing the bat-to-ball interaction, also. So, they were not to do it then.

If I were to go list these types of "flaws" in MVP, you would hate me. By that, I'm meaning you would be hypocritical... you would never make a thread like this for MVP because you like it, and you apparently seem to be very much against 2K5. I'm going to guess it's because you're afraid of change and competition, and when MVP is gone next year... nevermind.

I have a good sized list for MVP, want to hear? I posted one already, I had like 7 complaints with batting alone. You are free to go search for it, I asure you it is there somewhere unless old posts get deleted after less than a month.

I don't have as many complaints cosmetically though, MVP does have more fluid and accurate animations and player models, the players faces look better, but I am still not sure about the stadiums. I do think its fielding and pitching models are better from what I've have seen only to this point, but I have alot of questions about both games batting models, but this isn't the place to discuss MVP in any detail. Go find my post and I'll talk about it there...

Most of those are no big deal.

Exactly. I would say none of those are big deal for me.
