1. Nearly every hit is a line drive to a infielder... This must have happened in 12 consecutive at bats...
2. The fielders have waaaay to much range... I mean base hits through the gap are non existent because there is no gap. The fielders cover ground too quickly and the only chance to get a base hit is to be safe on an infield single... Not to mention with the new max fielding, its crazy. Sure it looks beautiful but some of the plays the infielders make are ridiculous, its like they are traveling at warp speed...
3. The pitchers are all gold glovers. Actually they are all super vacuums... While the infielders take away an chance at a groundball through the bases, the pitcher takes away any pitch whatsoever up the middle...
4. Camera angles online, to my knowledge cant be changed or different for each user...
5. It seems like if I'm scoring runs it’s either because I hit a hr, or luckily got on base with an infield base hit... There aren’t really a lot of singles, doubles, ect... Small ball isn't there, it seems like it’s all or nothing...
6. Pitching... The K-Zone is an amazing idea, I love it, unfortunately its flawed. Due to the fact you cant remove the K-Zone cursor or the strike zone, it is super accurate... Combined with the fact that pitchers don’t fatigue quickly enough if they don’t throw as hard as they can. Pedro pitched 12 innings online and was just past half stamina... Starters can paint corners all day long, literally. On the plus side the pressure situations are done perfectly.
7. Hitting... There is actually timing based hitting whether people realize it or not... If you just press the A button on xbox and time it, it will make contact, no need to aim at all which again waters down online play. However I believe you must aim with the B button, but I'm not sure about that one. Kind of mixed results upon testing...
8. Also there are camera mishaps that occur. You'll notice when you bunt the ball that it goes into this "bunt vision" kind of low to the ground and wide viewed... Anyway if you hit a ground ball and it bounces in the dirt by homeplate then proceeds through the infield it will stay in the "bunt vision" making it difficult to field. Is this a big deal, not even close, but it's still there.
That’s about it, but as you can see these problems destroy online play... They are existent in single player but I assume sliders could fix some of the problems...
This is by no means meant to start a flam war, I don’t even have MVP yet... I simply bought 2k5 on release today, and after playing all day long (took the day off) I found all these problems...
I personally don’t think online play is an option now for me at least. Hopefully sliders can salvage the single player aspect of the game.
On the bright side, the game has sooo much potential that I already cant wait for next years.
I'd love to hear any thoughts, comments, suggestions.
BTW everthing I tested was on all-star difficulty
Thanks
