    Regarding hitting

I played an online game last night on XBL, ranked, and was totally disheartened by what happened.

I was playing some cheeseball named SuaveGrain, and all this guy did was pitch low. He'd start low inside, then low outside, like clockwork, for the first 7 innings.

I had the guy figured out by the 3rd inning. I'd sit and wait on the low pitch, and even though I knew exactly where the ball was going, and be waiting for it, aiming in the correct zone, EACH AND EVERY TIME I HIT THE BALL, it was a grounder, or a line drive to the infield. NEVER did I hit a single or a shot to the outfield. I hit some long foul balls, but every ball that went into play was a grounder or a line drive.

The damn game went 16 innings tied at 1. If it wasn't for a SlamZone HR, God only knows how long it would have gone on.

It's pretty weak when a low pitch results in a grounder or line drive 95% of the time, especially when you're looking for it.

I dunno. That really let me down. I might consider getting MVP after all.

I'm actually having the same problem. Online of course... I cant figure it out either... Some people say it isn't a problem for them, and I wonder what they are doing differently... I'm curious do you use the power swing much? I actually don’t use it too much and notice most of my hits, with regular swing, while solid hits, go right to an infielder or pitcher on a line drive...

I'll just have to keep experimenting I guess...

I was experimenting with both swing types. Not much different in result.

Just curious. Did you try swinging without pressing down? Or pressing up even when the ball was down? Sounds odd, but curious what all you tried and the results

It's kind of weird, I notice that you can swing the A button (xbox) without having to aim and you can still make contact. I think by doing so that results in a lot of line-outs. Similarly I think if you miss the target (where the ball is actually pitched) this could result in the same results as not aiming at all.

Just a theory though, I'll have to test it out.

Well, I, too, have noticed that swinging without aiming will result in contact, but usually not with favorable results. But most of the time, I aim where I think the ball is going in the strikezone.

Basically, I tried everything. I had a lot of opportunites for experimentation against that guy last night, cuz he kept throwing the same two pitches. Low away, low inside. Nothing really worked.

I wonder if you have to swing a little early on low pitches, instead of meeting them at the strikezone. Maybe you have to aim correctly and swing early to dig them up.
