    Re: Let's talk Baserunning

    Sending one of my runners just doesn't work. If I have a man on second and hit a single, I can't successfully send him home w.o the batter going for second every time.

    I've played w. all the options (auto running, aided running, etc) and nothing helps. Just like the instructs say, I highlight my runner at second, then press the D-pad when he gets near third to send him home, and every time he just stops at the third. Very frustrated right now.

    Besides baserunning, my only beef w. this game is the CPU wild pitches.

      Don't use the D-pad, use the left trigger.

          And that won't send my runner from first to second?

          I coulda sworn I tried that before.

              Choose the runner (Y on 3rd) and click the Left trigger. This should send the runner home. Pushing left on the D pad will advance all runners. D pad makes runners steal respective bases, not advance on basepaths like it says in the manuals.

                  Here are a few base-stealing hints and some things to look out for...

                  1) In general, I've noticed that if you just take one step towards second...it's not enough. At two steps, if you catch the pitchers move to 1st in time you CAN get back. But you have to be out 2 steps in order to get that steal. As soon as you hear "he's going" start pumping the B button repeatedly for the runner speed boost. He will slide on his own.

                  2) The biggest thing I've noticed that you have to watch out for...

                  If you steal second on a hit and run, and the ball goes into far right field ... your lead runner just sits on second unless you advance him. It must still think you are in control of the runner, so keep that in mind, I've had my hitter end up almost on second base while my lead runner was just standing around looking stupid.

                      Re: Let's talk Baserunning

                      I think it would help a lot of us if some could give us a breakdown of which button is assigned to each baserunner. I think most are hitting the wrong button and advancing someone we don't want to.

                      So please assign if you know for sure

                      3rd= ? button 2nd= ? button

                      Home= ? button 1st= ? button

                      Once these buttons are memorized you will just hit the appropriate button assigned to that baserunner immmediately following a basehit and sqeeze let trigger to advance and right to retreat.

                      Hopefully this will help people like myself who are struggling.

                          I see it as every year developers keep reinventing a wheel that was perfected back in the 8- and 16-bit days, and they keep coming up with something inferior.

                          Just provide us a way of seeing where the runners are, then as a runner approaches a base let us press 'A' and the corresponding position on the stick/pad to advance (e.g., 'A' + left to round second and head to third). To go back to a base, 'B' plus the corresponding position.

                          And you'd input each runner separately. Ever since the so-called improvement arrived of either controlling separate runners or using one button to control all runners simultaneously, baserunning has been blunder-filled in every game.

                              This years baserunning mode/controls are fine and easy this season. Nothing to complex but yet you need to have your head in it to get the best results.
