    Funny email from my owner

    Sender: Owner
    Subject: Hot Hitters

    EMAIL: Cincinnati Reds

D'Angelo Jimenez is starting to bring it! Right now he's easily among the hottest hitters in the league. You gotta ride the hot bats to victory. But just remember that I say that figuratively. It was pretty strange catching you in the locker room the other day pretending to ride a bat like a buckin' bronco, ya weirdo.

Now, while this is funny, it gets me thinking why Kush is hiring for an assistant producer for their upcoming games... spending more time on dialogue than options for strike zones and one-button hitting being optional.

How did he know that I was doing that in the locker room?

Yes. I had a Giants franchise at first, but I decided to be the Reds after.

That and this is the first time that I've seen Griffey's stance right, with Great American Ballpark looking more beautiful than ever. I also like Rich Aurilia (helps when you know him), and... well... the Reds are among my favorite teams, let me put it at that.

Also, I had problems with SBC Park... night games would play during the day.

Ah, ok. I suppose your right about Griffey's stance though MVP wasn't too far off last year. (and this year)

Oh, sorry... I meant in the 2K series, not in general.

If you want in general, World Series Baseball 2K1 Interplay Sports Baseball 2000, and Home Run King had some pretty nice Griffey stances.

                        Dang man,

For its time Interplay Baseball 2000 was AMAZING...a lot of the things the bb community has ben asking for in our games the last 2-3 years were in that game when it dropped in '99.

I played that game for 2 years in a row until I gave my PS1 away.

My question is, how does the gameplay and animations of this 2K game stack up against Interplay 2000 - for it's time period, that is.

Interplay Sports Baseball 2000 had (and I will continue saying this) the best pitching interface, along with the best hitting interface. The game had some core gameplay, featuring balks, drop-third strikes, fake throws, and sliding that actually made the difference as to whether you were going to be safe or out on the play (they have that now, but back then it was never really an issue).

The game couldn't be fine-tuned like this one can, so its gameplay probably wouldn't match up. However, if you wanted the pitch counts, foul balls, etc. straight out of the box, this was the game to play.

That does not mean the game didn't have its annoyances, however. Fortunately, its annoyances didn't affect gameplay one bit. It was things like the announcer and the faces, which were all the same but with different skin tones. The crowd got a little weird at times, too.

But man... this game also featured full collision detection, which stacking up right next to All Star Baseball had the second-most fun Home Run Derby to date.

And, just like KG Jr., the batting stances were spot on!
