For those of you who have/got patches for NBA 2k5/NFL 2k5, about how long did it take them to release a patch after the game was patched? I'm not going to start a franchise in this game until the wild pitches are fixed. 10-20 wild pitches per game is a complete game killer for me.

ESPN Patches
From what I've heard, ESPN releases patches over Xbox Live for their games. I'm going to get Live just so I can get the patch for this game once it comes out (I assume they will fix the wild pitches).

Re: ESPN Patches
are you exaggerating the amount of wild pitches you are seeing? I'm asking because i only see about 1-2 per game. Sometimes i've seen 3, but nowhere near 10-20 :wtf: per game.
what settings are you using and what level? I'm on pro or all star (i forget) with custom sliders and dont see t hat many at all. I notice they only really seem to happen when you control the baserunner. I dont do that too often, so maybe that's the trick?Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York Rangers -

Re: ESPN Patches
I saw 3-5 per game without sliders, but when the AI pitching sliders were tweaked to allow for more walks, you see a far greater amount. This happens for a few reasons.
1.) More walks = more baserunners.. these wild pitches passed balls only occur with runners on, so the more often you have a runner on, the more likely it is to happen.
2.) More balls. The wild pitches occur far more often on balls than strikes, however I have seen some on strikes, only they were still called wild pitches. Therefore in general, more balls = more wild pitches.
3.) Confidence. The more runners get on, and the more the pitchers walk you, the less confidence they will have, especially after you start scoring. These wild pitches occur far more frequently when the pitcher has low confidence.
Now personally, I LIKE having good pitch counts and a few walks per game. So don't say "just don't use sliders", because the pitch counts/balls/walks are not realistic without them.
Without sliders, there are still far too many. With sliders, it's absurd. I dont like having house rules where I never advance on wild pitches, and I don't like skipping animations/replays in general, but I'm not going to watch replays every time. Otherwise, this game would be really awesome, however this is absolutely ruining it for me.
And please don't post something like: "But I only see X number of wild pitches per game" or "I only see 1-2 per 10 games!!", because this is truly not helpful. If you never have baserunners, only hit home runs, and the AI pitcher throws 60 pitches per 9 innings, perhaps you'll see less wild pitches. If you use sliders, and you are selective at the plate, you are going to see 10+ per game. Or perhaps your copy is some magically patched copy, and I got a pre-release beta from November. However, I promise you I am not lying, and I am not high on LSD, so comparing my experience to yours is truly not productive.
Keep in mind the all-time record for wild pitches in a game was 7. And that was in 1912. (There was 10 once in the dead-ball era, but that doesn't count).
So you can lie to yourself and pretend this problem doesn't exist to justify your purchase. However, I'm not the only one having this problem. If there were 2-3 wild pitches EVERY SINGLE GAME per side, it would ALREADY be unrealistic. 10-20 is just rediculous. There needs to be a patch, and hopefully it comes out soon.Comment

having a hugely negative attitude towards another user isn't going to help either and there are people here trying to undersand you better. Maybe if your first post had given more information instead od just saying you want a patch, we could understand where you are coming from. As I've said, i have been tinkering with sliders and haven't noticed it as much YET. It doesn't mean i won't, nor does it mean i THINK i never will.
I understand your frustration because if this is something with no remedy, it's going to really kill the realism aspect of the game.
I'll go back to my question however which was left unanswered. Do you see this mostly when you are in baserunner mode, or is this regardless of that? I seem to notice it a lot more if i'm in baserunner mode., but as i've said, i only see about 2 WP or PB per game so far.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Sorry, didn't mean to be hostile, this is just frusterating the heck out of me. I thought the same as you that it might have something to do with baseburner mode, but I played a game without going into baseburner once, and still had like 3-4 in one inning, and then turned the game off.Comment

Re: ESPN Patches
np and i can understand the frustration. I guess this is all related to the pressure and confidence (makes it even more frustration that confidence was an option last year not forced upon you).
i actually just played a game and noticed 3 passed balls, all without using baserunner mode, so i'm seeing your point.
hopefully there is a roster tweak out there soon for the time being. I havent checked the attributes, but i wonder if there is one for confidence or pressure?Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment
