I hate when people have fanboyish arguments about it but...my two cents.

This is the first year I like the competitor better than Sega's game. Since the Dreamcast, at least. ESPN had to compete by adding glamor to their presentation, and they have. It's now comparable to their other sports games in that respect and is really something to behold for a few days. Unfortunately, and this is what I feared with the change, the engine isn't the most impressive thing out there anymore. To my eyes, it's regressed. It isn't that it just lacks proper animations (which is true) but it's the first year I've played this game where the physics more often than not feel canned. I can't tell you my dissapointment at some of the long ball fouls that are duplicated to create home runs, etc. Trajectories that are so similar it only takes about 10 games to see them playing out in transition again. I pick that example as one of the most annoying of many, many weak areas.

I hated MVP last year. Not because it wasn't a nice looking package, but because it was fundamentally broken and it's fans often didn't even notice. But instead of throwing themselves to make graphics progression, they tightened up what they did right, ironed out most of their bugs and added some small touches that make it even nicer.

I don't think MLB is "broken", I don't think it's trash and it's certainly a decent game for $20. But my major opinion about it is that I'm glad it was a bargain because I'm not going to play the lesser of two efforts for a whole year. It bums me out, but that's what comparison playing has done for me.

Me too, that's why I pointed out that he really didn't have the game. (or has not done any customization in the game)

Anyways regarding 2k5...like I said I like it a tad better though I have been playing MVP and MLB about evenly recently. However next year, assuming Take-Two re-do's the fielding animations, 2k6 is going to be amazing.
                Lifelong Bengals and Buckeyes fan...yeah...

I hope you're right. My inner fan pulls for them. Still...I don't know, it's as if baseball were the last sport I believed their division always did deep improvement with. It's not there for me this year, though it looks and sounds beautiful. I certainly respect a differing opinion about that. But it's not the same people anymore, etc. I wish them much luck since my options are decreasing in the marketplace.
