Re: How do you pick sides with a switch hitter???
For right-handed pitchers, they will bat from the left side. For left-handed pitchers, they will bat from the right side.
Here this from a switch hitter (like me). If you are successful at hitting equally well from both sides of the plate, it is to your advantage to bat opposite from the pitcher's handiness, because of the way that the ball comes to the plate.
Technically, you would much rather have a pitch come into you than go away from you (that is, the angle that it's coming at, not the part of the plate the ball hits). This is because for pitches like curveballs and sliders, most hitters tend to freeze up if it's coming right at you. This is not the case when you're batting on the other side. Also, the arm is coming from an angle to the plate, it's not straight up the middle, so that's part of it as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: How do you pick sides with a switch hitter???
Yeah, but I ask, because I want to make it fair when I play people online with the Giants. Joe Young shouldn't be a switch hitter, he should ONLY bat lefty, like Bonds.
Also, it's NOT always best to just bat from one side, because the pitcher is throwing from the opposite. If you have a lefty pitching, and you want to drag bunt with a switch hitter, it'd be to the hitters benefit to step into the box as a lefty, to get down the basepath quicker. But since you can't select which side to bat from.........well...
I believe in All-Star Baseball you could select which side to hit from.Last edited by EXboxur; 02-26-2005, 03:54 AM.........................Operation Sports Champions League 2 Champion........................Comment

I mean that logically it's best to hit on the side opposite of the pitcher's throwing side.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
