Why EA's Games Excel At Animations And VC's At Presentation

It's a hardware issue. The fact is, the XBOX and PS2 are old. XBOX has a 733mhz CPU. EA's crowds and graphics have to be sacrificed to gain the wonderful animations. VC, on the other hand, concentrates on making such great stadium graphics that the hardware would not allow for better animations without having slowdown. There's no way to have it both ways unless the hardware improves.

I don't think that's the case at all. It just depends what they develop their time on more (and how much money that they have for motion capturing and animation time). That costs alot of money!

Then explain why EA is unable to make better looking ballparks year in and year out? And why the cardboard crowd cutouts? Trust me, its a hardware issue.

I'm not buying this poster's argument for one reason - Interplay Baseball 2000.

The game came out in 1999 on the PSOne, had absolutely great animations and half-decent presentation and graphics.

You're telling me it took 6 years and a whole new system and we still can't get animations and graphics? Phhhuuuullllleeeeaaaasssse.

I agree... the graphics were very jaggy, but otherwise clean. I mean, what PSX game didn't have jaggies? It also had a good framerate, and some GREAT batting stances and swings.

But, that won't be the reason I won't buy this guy's argument. The reason is simple... it comes down to whether or not time, efforts, laziness, or poor talents was spent into these features. I'm sure the guys at Kush just aren't very great at doing animations, that's all. That, or the time just wasn't put into it compared to other things.

As for stadiums, EA obviously just didn't take the time or efforts to further detail the stadiums in this game.

I've been tellin people this for years, glad to see someone else knows the deal. Now when ps3 and x-box 2 comes out then the resources will be available to create a game that has the best of both worlds, Graphics and animations. but you can take into account that some game programmers arent taking there time anymore to make games, their not takin the time to make sure everything is done correct.
