Honestly, if money is an issue, don't. I am a devoted VC fan, a fanboy if you will. I hate EA, how they've done business lately, but MVP is just an awesome game, hands down. There's nothing it does wrong at all. Superb animations, great graphics, a very in depth franchise/owner mode, stunning graphics on a bigscreen with 720p. The AI is smart, the sliders are abundant, and the overall feel is very good. It lacks one thing, presentation. MLB2k5s presentation is awesome, but the game itself is not as good as MVP, period. It pains me to say it, but it's just true. You can look at all the opinions you want around, there's lots of people, but at the end of the day, the more and more you look, most will say the MVP just gets it right.

I bought both games and MLB2k5 hasn't seen much playing time. Part of that is that it doesn't have 720p and looks horrible on a big screen, part of it is that MVP is just a truly great baseball game.

Remember, you're on the 2k5 forums, so you're gonna get some biased opinions. This is where fans of that game go, so you'll hear it's a great game. Regardless, do what you want and need to do. Best of luck!

Hustler, I understand it's your opinion...This coming from a vc fanboy for the most part.wsb2k5 just plain stinks...That answered my thread...I opened it.. This game is terrible and I don't think anyone should say this game is better then mvp....I hope i like mlb 2006 cause next year We won't have mvp baseball...No I don't blame take 2 I blame Ea for starting this whole mess...I wish we could put field/stadium graphics and announcing from 2k5 to Ea's mvp player models, franchise/owner mode, most of all CAMERA ANGLES AND GAMEPLAY....

In no way does this game beat MVP. To sit there and act like this passed ball thing just ain't happening... People can "overlook" this problem, just like the TO bugs in NBA... The fielding is very stale, pitchers are black holes up the middle.... c'mon, people. At least I haven't encountered a pitcher batting in the AL, but geez, when that happens.

I want to like this game, but ugh! I'm not going to sit here and encounter bug after bug and put on the blinders.

Anyway, I'll give EA one thing... between MVP 2005 and Fight Night Rd 2, they sure as hell are starting to re-establish themselves as makers of a "good" sports game.

Until they fix the big issues with Madden, however, I don't think we'll see a game comparable to NFL 2k this year... gameplay wise...

At least the presentation is nice. Too bad I enjoy playing the damn game, not watching it.

I think i would rather have a game that just gets a few minor updates that plays correctly, then to have a game that touts all these great new features, yet has GLARING flaws in the AI.

I guess that's just me.

So, it seems that the EA vs. ESPN this year has the same qualities in MLB as it did in NBA, where this year's EA game is just a tweeked version of last year's game, and the ESPN game is a completely new game compared to last year's game. I haven't played the MLB games, but IMO, ESPN won the NBA game. Is MLB 2006 really gonna be that great, that people keep mentioning it? I've never really liked the 989 Sports games, but I might give this one a try, in addition to renting MVP and MLB 2K5 to see which ONE I'll buy. I'm a poor mexican

I would try MLB 2006, but I don't know, I did have MLB 2005 and it was an ok game..I liked the Career and that was about it really, hated the online, but you know what? I had dial up at the time so I'm not going to blame 989 for that, as you can see.
