    Unrealistic goals in franchise/GM mode?

I just bought 2k5 this weekend and I've enjoyed it so far; the presentation (especially the commentary) is fantastic. However, I just started in GM mode with the Brewers (over .500 this year, I swear!) and I got what I consider to be some pretty unrealistic goals from upper management, the two most heinous being:

    1. Release Mike Adams. Since the crew traded Danny Kolb this year, Adams has been designated the closer. So why am I trading my closer? Management says he is making too much money and causing problems in the clubhouse but this is flat-out wrong (I don't know what his salary is but it is definitely not more than 1M) Not a huge problem, just kind of stupid.

    2. Win 100 games. Wait, did somebody forget to tell the owner that his team is the MILWAUKEE BREWERS?!????!? There is no realistic way that the crew could win 100 games next season; I would feel that the difficulty is too low if I DID end up winning 100 games.

Anybody else getting unrealistic goals like these, or do you think that these goals are reasonable?

As a GM in a video game your job is to win, win and win. You should'nt think about the fact that you have the Brewers. You need to make some roster moves and start winning some games. Its only unrealistic if you think "inside the box". Think outside and you should be able to put together a contender this season.

I guess you could say "this is a video game" and suspend disbelief but the simple fact remains that the goal of winning 100 games would NEVER EVER in a MILLION years be given to any GM of the Brewers.

Ever, ever, ever. That goal shouldnt even be in the game, as its unrealistic even as a goal for the Yankees.
I creating Ryan Langarhans and put him in the braves roster, but not only my entire braves roster changed but other teams roster changed too. Why is that. Now if the braves or other teams trade or sign players, there will be no point for chsnging it. If u don't have online like me, u be sad too.

Yep, you're gonna have to make some mega trades(unload Sheets, assuming he's expensive-I forget, for a good starter and regular starting position player, for example), but it's very possible. The key is to go young, cheap and with high potential.
I rather like the goals, makes it very challenging and they change every year based on how your roster looks.
My only problem is that there doesn't seem to be anywhere that actually rates your team at hitting/pitching/defense/etc. so I can know if I've improved my defense or not.

After thinking about it for some time....you guys are right. The Brew Crew with 100 wins?? Highly impossible. I donno, they could of at least gave you 3 seasons to get 100 wins. *snickers*

Although if you want to play a video game that'll mire you in mediocrity for 30 years, and encourage you to NOT make any drastic moves in order to maintain the status quo, then I suppose this game isn't for you either.

The goals arent as bad as MVP's though.

One of my three year stretch goals as the Red Sox was to hit 800 team home runs.

That is seriously the dumbest, most unrealistic goal ever.

The point is if you've got a GM mode, build the team. When was the last time Milwaukee was .500? That should be the first goal. Then 90, 100, etc.
