    SlamZone Auto-Lock.....anyone seen it?

I just had something happen that I hadn't seen yet in all the games I've played (which is quite a few by now). I was just playing an all-fictional player season with the default all-star sliders (except errors for obvious reasons)while I'm waiting for the PS2 roster update. Playing as the Cubs, my second game of the season against the D-backs went into extra innings.

In the tenth inning, I managed to guess exact location on a fastball. You know how normally when you go into Slamzone, the outline of the batter's eye cursor turns green and zooms in to the pitcher's hand? Well, this time it glowed red as soon as the ball left his hand. And you know what that means - it was already fully powered, no button - mash necessary. All I had to do was swing the bat at the right time........

And I missed. Complete whiff on an early swing.

I actually got another crack at this exact situation 2 innings later, and this time I didn't miss. Launched the soon-to-be game winning homer into the BOB's pool. So anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this, and what causes it? I have a hunch it's related to confidence, and maybe that's why I never see it during exhibition games - because a hitter's confidence bar won't often fill during the course of one game.

And yes, I know Slamzone is arcadey, but that's not the point. While I'm waiting for that update to begin my real Pure Baseball season, I thought I'd see everything that the game has to offer.

Never seen it because I don't guess pitches, I leave it centered. Suspect this occurs everytime you correctly guess pitch location and is solely based on same.

I haven't seen that but I have seen people swing & miss on slamzone on XBL. For this reason as soon as it says to hit B I hit it about 5 times to make sure there's no way possible I miss.

No, I know it's not that.....normally when you guess location, the cursor goes green, just as when the CPU makes a meat pitch. You still have to mash the button to fill up the meter. This was different - it was red from the very start.
